Coolest Stunt in a Movie
So what is your favorite stunt. Surprisingly one of the coolest stunts happens to be in one of the worst movies.
The fall in Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever was a straight fall from beginning to end (on the top of a squad car) and had to be at least 6 stories. That was the best fall in a movie. Too bad the rest of the movie had to suck so bad. Here is my alterior motive for starting this thread: How in the heck did they do this? Some others: Rush Hour 2 when Jackie Chan slips under the protective gate at the casino. Actually a lot of the stunts Chan does is really amazing. T2 When the helicoptor Pilot jumps out at the T1000 request. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that he really jumped from the Copter to solid ground. |
the car flip in Die Another Day
Awesome! |
The car chase in THE FRENCH CONNECTION
It may not be as spectular as jumping out of a plane or helicopter but it`s a lot more gritty and believeable I think that gives it a certain authenticity that doesn`t seem `fake |
from a small indie British film called "Urban Ghost Story"

Kudos for the stuntmen who did the following:
1. Rick Sylvester Skiing/Skydiving off the glacier in The Spy Who Loved Me 2. Dar Robinson jumping through a window on the 16th floor of a skyscraper in Sharky's Machine 3. Wayne Michaels bungeed off the dam in Goldeneye. Dude, that was intense. 4. Yakima Canutt being dragged between and underneath the horses in Stagecoach. 5. Canutt's son Joe jumping the chariot over the crashed chariots in Ben-Hur |

When Daffy Duck drank the gasoline and exploded. Of course he only did that stunt once.

ahh...yes I forgot about all those. esp the bungee jump in Goldeneye. With the onset of CGI I miss the "real" stunts in movies. An example would be the glacier surfing scene in Die Another Day.
Another: The Boat Flip in The World is Not Enough (vehicle stunt) Oh yeah and every guy Mr. T has every flipped in A-Team. Now that is good stunting. |
Most memorable for me...
Jackie Chan, not sure which movie it is in, but, he was under one of the HUGE wheels of these MONSTER SIZED construction vehicle. He was lying on his back and the only way to keep from getting crushed is to kick against the moving wheel so his back would slide backwards... It was truly amazing, I don't know how he does it. |
Gotta be the stuff in the chariot race in Ben Hur. Best Action sequence EVER!!!
I also love that "corkscrew" car stunt in The Man With the Golden Gun, but they ruin it with a cheesy sound effect. |
Re: Re: Coolest Stunt in a Movie
Originally posted by elias IMHO, the best fall in a movie is Jackie Chan's fall from a clock tower in Project A. This is a legit fall, with no special effects or wires. Just let go and hope the awnings save your a$$! The only think to me that comes close is considering the time it came out & for the budget it was filmed. Mad Max had some really amazing & trend setting car crashes. |
The "Jackie sliding down the side of the 150 story building" in Who Am I always blows my mind. The man is insane!
|
Jackie Chan in so many movies.
|
The falling smokestacks in "Hooper". Those were real (and extremely heavy) smokestacks, and there was one shot at this stunt, as they would be destroyed in the process. There was about a four-second safety margin. When the stuntman took off, he had trouble gaining traction and very nearly didn't make the gap.
I just like that stunt because there was no real safety precautions, there was real mortal danger at stake, and the stuntman almost didn't make it. Perfect. Here's a cool list of great stunts: http://www.maximonline.com/stupid_fu...icle_4276.html |
Boat scene in Face/Off
Jackie Chan sliding down that building in "Who am I" was CRAZY!! Also Brad Pitt in "Meet Joe Black" |
I agree that the old Jackie Chan was amazing. I still love the jump he did from the 6th floor across an alley to the 5th floor in Rumble in the Bronx. The last couple of movies have been pretty disappointing for me, especially The Tuxedo. It was just so obvious that he was wearing wires. A sad, sad day for Chan fans. What that man could do with furniture and any prop you could throw him was amazing. I think that he should just start training a new generation of young stuntmen who will be willing to do the stunts that he can't do anymore.
There are also a lot of great stunts in the Bond movies, and lets not forget Indiana Jones in Raiders, going under the truck holding onto the axle was great. I think it was based on the one from Stagecoach (Didn't the guy who did the stunt in Stagecoach get seriously injured doing it?) Oh, and the original Gone in 60 Seconds and its sequal, The Junkman had a lot of great stunt driving. It is amazing that Elenore lasted as long as she did. (The light pole crash on the freeway was NOT planned, but they kept it in, got the car running, and kept filming afterwards! Truly amazing.) -CM- |

1. The classic horse off of the ledge ...killing the horse
2. Getting rosie odonell's body into a corset |

Originally posted by cartman He was lowered (rather quickly, but slower than falling) by a wire onto the car. The car was specially designed to give in certain spots upon impact to have the appearance of a "hard" hit. |
