Glenn Ford is one of the more overlooked actors who in the top echelon of Hollywood talent. There aren’t many actors who are as brilliant as Glenn Ford who fail to receive even part of the recognition he / she is due. In fact, as far as such actors go, he probably heads the list. That's not to say he hasn't received acclaim......It's just that it has been much less than he has earned. IMHO

This flawless actor born as Gwyllyn Samuel Newton Ford in Sainte-Christine, Quebec, Canada was in some truly wonderful films.

Some of my favorites are:
Gilda (1946)
Loves of Carmen, The (1948)
Convicted (1950)
Big Heat, The (1953)
Blackboard Jungle (1955)
Trial (1955)
Violent Men, The (1955)
Ransom! (1956)
3:10 to Yuma (1957)
Cowboy (1958)
Torpedo Run (1958)
Pocketful of Miracles (1961)
Experiment in Terror (1962)
Day of the Evil Gun (1968)
Midway (1976)

:hscratch:............I try to post a new "Star Focus" after all this time and I find that it was already well covered by Geofferson. Maybe an Admin. will want to combine the threads?

In any case..........Feel free to post more on this fine actor:D

BTW: How are ya' buddy???? I'm going to watch Sunset Blvd. later so I'm very excited! Maybe that's why I didn't do better research into this thread:eek::confused::hscratch:

You could delete this thread and put your first post in the old thread. Don't make me have to "report this post to a moderator."

I didn't have anything to say about him last time. I did like Superman... and The Rounders... and maybe a couple others...

I know what you mean. The chance to watch the great Jack Webb steal a movie from a bunch of second rate, no-talent hacks always gets me excited too. :D

So........Since we're deep into a discussion of Glenn Ford.................Did you catch Ransom! (1956) on TCM tonight? I hadn't seen it in a while and wish I had checked the schedule. Next time I'll tape it or at least watch it from the start.

I really like this film.......As per his usual performance Ford seems so real when he's on film. He never seems like he's acting to me. That's probably the best complement I can give any actor I guess.

OK......I'm now going off into the Sunset..........Blvd. that is:) I'll check back after the closeup:D

Hi Geofferson ~ I agree......I'm still sorry though.........I would have just added to your thread if I had known you started one:D I'll have to learn to use that search button a little more:)

Anyway........I find it ironic that we would both choose the same exact picture to start a Glenn Ford thread.....That's spookyhttp://www.adclan.de/stuff/smilies/n...lies/spook.gif

Yeah, I've been beaten up, but I'm not beaten. I'm not beaten, and I'm not quittin'. ~ Blackboard Jungle (1955)

Do you have a copy of The Big Heat DVD? I'm looking forward to getting it soon.

I caught "3:10 To Yuma" on TCM last month. What a GREAT western. Glenn Ford and Van Heflin were great in their roles!

I hadn't realized until recently that Glenn Ford did so many Westerns. I would have guessed about a dozen but in actuality it is quite a few more (23 not counting The Sacketts (TV-movie) & Border Shootout (1990)):

Santee - 1973
Heaven with a Gun - 1969*
Smith! - 1969
Day of the Evil Gun - 1968*
The Last Challenge - 1967*
A Time for Killing - 1967*
The Rounders - 1965*
Cimarron - 1960*
The Sheepman - 1958*
Cowboy - 1958*
3:10 to Yuma - 1957*
The Fastest Gun Alive - 1956*
Jubal - 1956*
The Americano - 1955
The Violent Men - 1955*
The Man from the Alamo - 1953*
The Secret of Convict Lake - 1951
The Redhead and the Cowboy - 1950
Lust for Gold - 1949
The Man from Colorado - 1949*
The Desperadoes - 1943*
Go West, Young Lady - 1941
Texas - 1941

I've got 15 (denoted by *) of the above films in my collection. Of the remaining ones I don't have, the one I would be most interested in is Texas which starred both Ford and William Holden. I'd never heard of it until now.
