I don't know why they are concerned about what the DGA is going to think. They're two different movies. The second is just a loosely based remake of the first, right? Do they even share any common footage?

I actually thought that Warner Bros. may have had some credible reason for making this movie with Paul Schrader on board.

Now that Renny Harlin has taken over, and judging fm the link provided as to where you can watch the trailer...

I guess here's another sequel film along a long trail of great movies where the original is still the best and must be left on its own.

The reason is because half the trailer is made up of footage from the first Excorcist!

The other reason is because they only show quick flash cuts of the new film. They don't even let you in on what it might possibly be about. They also throw in the MTV style quick cuts all through the trailer.

A trailer that as expected, merely capitalizes on the Exorcist history and shows little of the new stuff.

In otherwords, not a confidence booster by any stretch of the imagination.

...........and hopefully not a teen horror flick either.

I don't think it'll be a teen horror flick.....but man do I want to see the Schrader version more than Harlin's 'vision'. Can't wait for THAT DVD.
Still i'm a huge fan of the original and part 3 (for the most part) so this is of definite interest to me.

Yeah, that was definitely a joke, I'm hoping it was just a slapped together piece of junk to get us pumped for the goods - hey, ya never know right? (at least until the next trailer).

Did anyone think that the first part was a copy of Session 9? The "doctors" voice was almost identical. Maybe that was taken from another classic film, I don't know. If not, it is a little similar.

And, my dissapointment has been quelmed by the announcement of the DVD. I'll probably check out this in the theaters and pick up the DVD for the more anticipated version.

Hard to tell what's going on, but that's pretty nice quality for a streaming trailer.

As a standalone teaser trailer, it ain't bad. However, knowing what I do about the troubled production and the (new)creative team behind the film, I really have no desire to see it. If it is indeed true that both versions of the film will be released on dvd, then I might consider watching it. Otherwise, count me out.

Like Seantn said, the reason it looks so good is because the shots they use from the first "Exorcist". Something I don't think the trailers for either of the sequels did. I don't remember them showing any footage anyway. Pretty slick move.

Morgan Creek have prepared a new and improved trailer for Exorcist: The Beginning to release online and in cinemas as soon as possible, replacing the shambled trailer that was recently released.

They have hit an unforeseen hurdle, however. A Warner Brothers source revealing exclusively to CaptainHowdy.com today that the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) have disapproved the new trailer for release, officially stating the footage is deemed "too scary for all audiences".

According to the source, the official document stated reasons why the trailer would not receive release approval, including 'blood on walls' and a 'white demonic face bleeding from the eyes'.

It is not known whether Morgan Creek are fighting the decision or re-cutting the trailer to meet standards.

CaptainHowdy.com tried to contact Greg Mielcarz, Head of Worldwide Publicity at Morgan Creek, but he was unavailable for comment. Greg frequents the Exorcist Fan Forums here at CH.com. Morgan Creek have not issued a formal statement at this time.

However, this news should raise a few eyebrows. It further confirms that Morgan Creek were indeed chasing a 'scarier' feel for their prequel after Schrader left the project and Renny Harlin was brought on board to patch things up. Practically the entire film was re-shot as a result. Renny Harlin's film will be in cinema's August 20, Paul Schrader's will reach DVD early next year.

The trailer for Exorcist: The Beginning was launched two weeks ago on MTV.com, much to the excitement of Exorcist fans who had been waiting for over two years to finally see some footage from the fourth Exorcist film. Excitement quickly tuned sour, however, as fans were quick to point out the cliché elements of the trailer, questioning the credibility of the film as a respectable sequel as a result.

Fans also noticed the trailer featured on many internet sites, but not the official Exorcist: The Beginning web site. It would seem Morgan Creek were holding off so they could release their official - SCARIER - trailer to the world.

then why not put the trailer as a red band trailer and put it in front of R rated movies, and use the censored trailer for regular movies.
