Out with the old! In with the new!

I new this would be great when I see who made it,its the same people that brought you A Beautiful Mind and L.A Confidential, with some decent actor's and you throw Em in the picture you got $$$$.

And yes I do like Em,he's the best rapper out right now and I love rap, people who hate on him prolly hasnt listened to his stuff close enough or they have no sack.

Where did you get $24K per theatre?

$54 million / 2,471 theatres = $21,800. Still a bunch, but not $24K.

Eminem's talented and it was a nice performance for a first time out.

I wish Curtis Hanson would've pushed the storyline a little bit
farther because it was pretty much standard fare.

Kind of generic but still enjoyable.

I went to see this on Friday in the afternoon and I couldn't find a parking space. I was suprised because theaters aren't usually packed around noon. Turns out that many people were using their lunch hour to buy tickets for 8 mile, after the movie was over the parking lot was just about deserted. After that I had a feeling the movie was going to do pretty well, you don't usually expect to see that kind of thing outside of a Star Wars/Harry Potter or LOTR release.

 for the movie by the way.

Went to see it today around 3pm. Theater was very packed, and everyone in the crowd was into it. I personally loved it, and it deserved the $$$ it made.

I'm not much of a hockey fan, does that mean I don't know a few things about Wayne Gretzky?
I am enlightened and definately wiser for having read your post. Then I guess am not much a fan of pretty much everything.

And it's difference not differance. But that is neither here nor there. Thanks Stan (right Goldberg74? )

I'm assuming your post was sarcastic so thats what you get for thinking that you know my likes and dislikes because I enjoyed a movie that had eminem in it.

Eminem proved to be a powerhouse at the box office with his urban drama 8 Mile which generated the best opening day ever for an R rated film with a Friday haul of $20.9M beating out Hannibal's $19M from February 2001. The phenomenal debut also ranks as the second biggest opening day ever in the month of November trailing Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which bowed to a towering $32.3M last year on its way to a record-breaking $90.3M weekend. However, by playing in just 2,471 theaters, 8 Mile's per-theater average of $8,450 nearly matched the $8,805 of Harry Potter on its opening day.

The critically acclaimed Eminem pic also carried a more restrictive rating compared to the boy wizard's PG. Since 8 Mile appeals to a core following of fans of the best-selling rapper, and that its target audience consists of a large number of teens and young adults, the Curtis Hanson film is expected to see a large share of its weekend business on Friday. For the three-day session, 8 Mile may find itself with a staggering $54-59M.

!

God it must be the greatest film of all time then.
