Saw 8 Mile Tonight - Really Liked It
Just got back from the 8-Mile Screening. And I really liked the movie.
It's a very solid character piece, and while it's not action packed it does a great job of putting together interesting and honest characters who you do care about.
Eminem is really good as the lead, although I'm sure it wasn't a streatch to play someone a lot like himself. None the less he did a really solid job.
Kim Bassinger was excellent, and not over used.
Soundtrack was great and not overbearing, it isn't one long Eminem video.
All in all I'd highly recommend the movie, especially for people who like movies which focus more on characters than anything else.

Saw it Monday night as well, at a special screening.
I also won a cd bundle of all of his cds...I had a couple of them already...
-------------------------------
I thought the film was great...and I loved the fact that it wasn't like a "true biography". I am also glad they left the mother-son, and boyfriend-ex-girlfriend relationships to a minimum.
The Free World vs. 3-1-3 freestyle scenes were great.
Eminem was excellent. I was doubting it before, but after seeing the film, he truly was great.
The story flowed, and had just the right amount of drama and comedy.
The sex scene was also an excellent one....(gotta add that in )
It seemed so "real".

I'm looking forward to this one, I don't consider myself an Eminem fan. I could easily join the group that doesn't want to see this because Eminems in it, but the movie isn't about Eminem it just has Eminem in it and from the trailers and early reviews it looks like he does a good job acting the part.

And I will probably annoy the old people in the car next to me at a red light by playing the soundtrack loud...as well as the other albums.

I know why you say this, because you don't like Eminem.
But have you seen the film?

I'll probably see this. The previews make it look very well made, and even though I really dislike Eminem, it looks like he does a great job in the film. I'm also a fan of Curtis Hanson (well, his last few movies).

So you think that 12 year olds should be listening to Eminem CDs?

They seem to be holding off the usual free screenings at college campuses to build buzz. Wonder if there's a reason?
I will be there this weekend, but am not sure if I want to try Friday just yet. I really don't care for Eminem, but the ST is good and it is getting positive notice, and Curtis Hanson is at the helm, so I have to bite!

I am just sorry that Kim Bassinger, Academy Award winner, felt she had to do this movie.

First off:
Um...cooper2000, let me know when you actually see the film, okay?
Secondly,
The Merriam-Webster dictionary states that an actor is one who acts; one who represents a character in a dramtic production; a theatrical performer; one that behaves as if acting a part; one that takes part in any affair
And I do believe Eminem represented a character in a dramatic production, behaved as if acting a part, and the movie was an actual affair.
Hell anyone could act, it is a matter of if they could do it good or not.
So he isn't a MOVIE STAR, but an actor and a movie star are two completely different things. (Yeah, you may have the few who are considered both because they can act and bring in the bucks, but most of the time you don't. )
Third,
Who knows Kim Basinger might have wanted to do the film because of Eminem...but we all know that she either did it for Curtis Hanson (who directed L.A. Confidential which she won an Oscar for - or she needed the work and money.)
Please, don't think you dissed me from a few questions. I got you on these.
Damn I'm good.
