the line "Ataca, ataca, ataca" with a man yelling this down the ally. i think this is a dinero line so thats why i combined questions here .
and how is taxi driver with robert dinero. the main reason im asking is that my parents hated this movie saying that it is just too stupid and they dont know why its consitered a classic.

I actually consider both Taxi Driver and Dog Day Afternoon to be around the same quality. Both quite good, but maybe not as good as they've been made out to be.

Taxi Driver is like a train wreck. No, it's like a train wreck about to happen. You get an idea that something bad is gonna go down, but you can't turn away from the screen, just as Travis can't turn away from the wreck. I think Taxi Driver is a great film, and the end is violent bliss.
Dog Day Afternoon is an exceptionally crafted film, and just where the hell is Serpico already??
Check out...
The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3
The French Connection
Dirty Harry (duh)
The Conversation
Great hardboiled '70s urban grit and grime.

Woah, wait. Travis can't turn from the wreak? Travis is the wreak. Of course, we assume it was Vietnam that had dealt him psychological damage, creating the Travis we know. However, Travis knows exactly what he is doing. Now, if you're suggesting A is A, then I can't argue with you. Travis decides to live out his life that way, he wasn't a victim of fate (of 'Nam, maybe). What is in his head is still in there, even though he thinks it's gone. That train in Travis' head is still chugging along. I do agree with you on the violent bliss. How else could you describe Travis' realization?
Now, if you can have a conversation like this about a movie, then it must be at least worth watching, right?
Mean Streets is cool, too. De Niro's role is a 180 from Travis' character, and Keitel puts De Niro in his place, just as he should. It's more realistic than Taxi Driver, but it too exemplifies the 70's Film Noir.

And to French Connection & The Conversation. I prefer both of those to Dog Day and Taxi, but all four are good.

Taxi Driver was, IMHO, intense...It seemed to build up slowly, but then it got real intense, real quick. It's funny, nowadays you can see scenes more violent than in Taxi Driver on prime time TV, but after watching TD, we just sat there on the sofa for about ten minutes thinking about it, letting it sink in.
I liked French Connection, especially the car chase scene [duh], and the powerful Hackman exemplifying the accepted racism of the time [Note to thinskinned: that doesn't mean I liked the racism, I though Hackman's performance, of which the racism was a part, was very powerful], but I don't think I liked it as much as Taxi Driver.

Taxi Driver IMO was a very good movie. Just dont watch it with any weird expectations. When I first watched it I was mildly dissapointed because of what i thought it was going to be like. It watched it again and I love it now. Its very diffrent from the kind of movies that come out today. Very slow paced but a very awesome movie.

Taxi Driver is one of ths defining movies of the seventies. As a comparison watch John Ford's The Searcher's which imspired the Scorsese flick. Also get a hold of the best movie of the eighties, Raging Bull. It amazes me this man has never won an academy award. Here hoping your have better taste than your parents.

He was OK, but that guy who played Kenickie in Grease gave a brilliant performance!
