After being asked by my fellow admin to take a look at this thread, I've decided to close it.
While the subject matter is a valid topic for discussion, the openning post was very poorly worded. It makes it sound like the suffering of that day should be recreated for the entertainment of others and that's highly inflammatory way to bring up this topic as evidenced by a number of the responses it's generated.
And for the record, there were quite a few objections raised about the almost fetishistic way Michael Bay filmed the bombs and explosions in his movie version of Pearl Harbor.
Again, it's not the subject, but the way it is handled. Thousands of lives were lost and tens of thousands of lives were personally touched by this tragedy. We should all exercise care when discussing this topic to not unnecessarily make light of the losses that happened that day.
