New CG Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, directed by John Woo?

Has anyone heard anything of this? I saw a brief paragraph in the back of one of the game magazines (either Game Informer or an XBox magazine.) I couldn't find any mention of this on IMDB.

I think Woo is just producing it. But it's in the works. Supposedly. Strange isn't it?

Actually, this film WAS in the works.....production has stopped and the movie isn't being made. That's the last I heard.

But they are still working on a new TMNT film though, right? Anything?

The best part of the film will be when Donatello and Michaelangelo have a "Mexican stand-off" while doves fly in slow-motion in the background.

Don't laugh. I was really looking forward to that.

I hope not. This would be something to dig up when there's a nostalgia factor for it that does not currently exist.

I, for one, was a big fan of the series when they came out in the early '90s. I didn't know about the comic book series they were based on until the TV show aired, but once I read the comic book, I fell in love with the dark, gritty, Frank Miller style of the comic book and began hating the cartoony version that introduced me to the series. Although the Turtles have since been replaced with Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh and the like, I was really excited when I saw the title of this thread because I was hoping for the possibility of bringing the turtles back to life and representing them as dark as the comics originally did. I hope someone picks this one back up.

"Oh God, John Woo involved with TMNT... geeze, that's just going to be soooo unrealistic!"

Like talking turtles are freaking realistic in the first place.

Re: New CG Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, directed by John Woo?

though i don't think it's an awful film, it's not exactly a good one either. a strangely compelling mess would be a better description. the visuals are distracting, to say the least. the backwards stuff seems especially pointless. james van der beek is terrible in this film. there's already narration to let us know what a colossal jerk his character is, so van der beek shouldn't be scowling ferociously the way he does throughout the film. avary also managed to get a bad performance out of the otherwise dependable clifton collins. and the less said about shannon sossamun, the better. her idea of acting is to bite her lower lip. a lot. get that girl some chapstick, ASAP! but jessica biel and kip pardue are both quite good. i've seen this film twice because there are some wonderful moments scattered around, especially a sequence involving suicide that is remarkably effective. it's compelling in spite of the things i think are wrong about it but boy, there really is a LOT wrong.

WTF is up with these threads that have been dead for years popping up? There was a relatively still young thread that had to do w/ this film. I mean..i'm sure a more recent thread popped up between 2002 and 2009 about the flick....

I don't get it...

(I'm guessing he is talking about a completely different movie, but I don't understand why or what movie is being described)

I don't think this is even relevant since we're getting a live-action reboot in 2011.
