I bought Windtalkers last week for $14. The storyline of the movie is pretty strong, but the way they went about making the movie was in the wrong way IMHO. This type of film should have been more of a War Drama than a War Action movie. It's as if the Producer wanted it to be a Drama (as the whole story is very dramatic) but with Woo directing, he wanted to throw in a lot of action scenes and let the special effects take over. Personally, this movie would have been well made if it ended up like The Thing Red Line in terms of the dialogue being a bigger part of the movie (as well as the performances) than the action of the war. However, even through it's faults, I still enjoyed the movie both times I have watched it thus far.
I also picked up Orange County a long time ago. It's been at a friends of mine house for about a month now and I have only watched it once. I must say that I did crack up almost the entire movie though. Jack Black is at his comedic best when he's acting like a stoned out worthless kid. Colin Hanks turns in a nice performance and I can really see him following in his fathers footsteps with doing some of the crazy comedies first, and then moving to more dramatic roles as he gets older and more used to acting on film. Schuyler Fisk also did an excellent job as Colin's girlfriend in the movie. She has that girl next door cuteness to her, but also plays off as an intelligent young lady. I have been wanting to get this one back for some time so I can watch it again, thanks for reminding me to get off my toosh and call my friend.

Orange County - enjoyed this one much more than I was expecting to
Windtalkers - OK, but definitely not up to the level of the other recent war flicks
40 Days & 40 Nights - raunchy flick that had it's moments. American Pies were way better.

I don't agree with Jaxcomet. I really liked Orange County, it was as good as I had hoped, and I was expecting, and received, a lot from Jack Black and Colin Hanks. It's a fun movie, enjoy.

When i first watched Orange County in the theater it was ok, Now that i have it on DVD its way better. The funny thing is that i actually live in orange county and alot of the people here really do act that way. Stupid, stuck up and rude. Jack Black is always great, I could have used a lot more Chevy Chase though.

I completely agree with WIZ on Windtalkers. The story had so much potential and could have been soooo much better. It seems like Woo really just wanted to blow stuff up.
kinda bummed i bought it.......
