The best film of the year so far is? (Fill in the blank)

Ok, its not 1/1/3 yet, but there have been a few films released in theaters this year (over 400 on last count) What is your favorite so far?

Far from heaven gets my vote.

With honorable mentions to:

Secretary
Y tu mama tambien
Punch-drunk love
Frailty
Femme fatale
Roger dodger
Lovely and amazing
Rules of attraction
Auto-focus

Films I missed in theaters but have high hopes for include:
the piano teacher
in praise of love
Invincible

And looking forward to these coming out through the end of the year:
Adaptation
About schmidt
The gangs of new york
The 25th hour
Confessions of a dangerous mind
The pianist

Now lets see what happens when all is said and done... I'm curious.

What are your picks?

Since i haven't seen many of the films released this year(& may not for years if ever)......my pick would be for

The Rules of Attraction

It was great since it pulled no punch's & was alittle different for a change. + loved the camera work.

The only other films i've seen this year where Changing Lanes & Sum of All Fears...both i thought were disapointing.Lanes was the better or the two...but not as great/good as it could have been.

So far I've only seen 14 from 2002 (compare that to currently 110 flims from 2001 and you'll see that it'll be this time next year before I can really answer this question), but the best I've seen so far is Y Tu Mama Tambien.

I can't say accurately; my brain is still recovering from summer-blockbuster-season. I'm just excited that GOOD stuff has started coming out again.

I have high expectations for Punch Drunk Love and Adaptation. I loved The Rules of Attraction. I'd like to comment on Y Tu Mama Tambien, as I've only heard positive things about it, but I haven't seen it yet. I really liked Amores Perros, so I hope to enjoy Y Tu Mama Tambien as well.

Why must all "films of the year" be artsy or boring Oscar yawners? I see the just-dos, but come on. I'd say....

Spider-Man: it made over 700 mil worldwide, easily the best superhero tale ever put to screen, captured the comics to a T. It engaged me like the comics.

Other goodies this year: Black Hawk Down, Minority Report, and you know Two Towers will be sweet. Oh, and sorry, as much as I liked road to Perdition, it was slow and didn't have the pacing or the action as the graphic novel.

I finally saw this tonight, in what will probably be its last week in my local theaters. It was quite good.

I haven't seen enough theater run films this year to really offer an educated opinion on the best of the year so far.

Arty or boring Oscar-yawners? Spider-Man because it made 700 mil?

Some of us are operating with a different set of values!

I thought Spider-Man was terrific fun, but for my favorite film (so far) I would have to go with Minority Report followed very closely by Frailty.

I haven't seen too many films this year, but I'd say the best of the ones I have seen is One Hour Photo.
