Heather Graham in "From Hell" just listening to her incredibly fake (and bad) English accent made me cringe.

Melanie Griffith always feels miscast no matter what role she's playing.

Nicolas Cage - Capt. Correlli's Mandolin

I also found Danny Nucci character of Fabrizo in "Titanic" to be overplayed and overexaggerated.

I disagree. At least on three of her performances. I can't imagine anyone else playing the roles she did in "Something Wild" and "Working Girl". Those parts just seemed taylor made for her. And her performance in "Paradise" was subtle, but nice.

I have to agree. I've always thought that role was kind of weak. good call.

No, I will second sfsdfd's pick for Joaquin Phoenix. He was terrible in that role, I don't care how many awards he was nominated for. His exaggerated sissy boy stereotype was an embarrassment to the craft of acting.

Of course I haven't seen the movie yet, but I have to agree. I don't think shes good looking for one thing, esp. in this movie. I also don't see her as the Austin-esque girl. Hopefully my opinion will change when I see the movie.

Add me to this list. The "chick" in question is the most self absorbed person in show business since Diana Ross. And her name? Beyonce. Even that smacks pretentiousness. And have you ever heard this dial tone talk? Saw a brief interview and let me tell you, she is dumb as a box of rocks. I'm talking 3rd grade education here. It was hilarious watching someone act so worldly and being so stupid.

Here's my take. It's clear that the character was meant to be an ineffective, unstable emperor. But Joaquin's performance went well beyond that, into the realm of whimpering, ineffective fop. As a villain, he was laughable.

This is a revenge film. The villain needs to be suitably fearsome and despicable for these films to work well. Gladiator totally flopped in this regard, and it made the final combat scene utterly anticlimactic (in addition to being an absurd premise for a conclusion.)

Gladiator generated a lot of unfair comparisons with Braveheart, but this is one area where the comparisons are telling.

I'm going to go back to the Batman series and list Tommy Lee Jones as Two Face.
Actually, I thought Tommy Lee Jones was fine; his character was just written far too two-dimensionally.

they should have gotten Billy to come back

Agreed. Dafoe is the opposite of the big&tough image given in the clancy books. Hell, even bushdog managed to steal a woman away from him. (or something like that )

Oh, GOOD call DRG! This would have been the worst miscast in the history of movies. IMO.

Will Smith in Wild, Wild, West.

Smith is apparently the lead in potential film "I Am Legend". That just don't sound right to me. Will Smith is The Omega Man? No way.

Also, Mark Wahlberg in the remake of Planet of the Apes.

"From Hell" .....
Spoiler:
Ian Holmes as THE RIPPER. I love Holmes but I just could NOT buy him as this vicious killer of women

"Superman"... Christopher Reeves was just too fem and had no muscles and I never liked him in that role. Supes should be a big manly man.....I mean come on. Margot Kidder was also to friggin ugly for Lois Lane. BTW, th eNEW Superbuy is rather Fem also and this is sad. Again, Supes is a BIG MANLY MAN.

"Batman" suffered from the same thing with ALL the men who played him in the movies. Bats is another big ass kicking man and all the actors from Keaton from Clooney were not what I see as Bats.

Joaquin Phoenix's performance in Gladiator was written like a comic book spoiled brat villain. I'll agree with Mr. Stein and say LAME.
