Maybe no TRUE LIES 2 afterall...

According to DARKHORIZONS.com:
About.Com talked with Bill Paxton who commented on the likelihood of a sequel to James Cameron's "True Lies" - and the news ain't good: "I don't think there's going to be a True Lies 2, but I'm not the person to talk to about that. I made a trip to Titanic with Jim back in August and September. I made four descents down to Titanic and [the sequel] came up. I think in light of the events of September, I don't think Jim Cameron will be in any way, shape or form involved in a sequel to that movie. That's my opinion. I can't really speak for Jim".

I couldn;t agree more. Let's just hope that after the
dusts settles over future world events that Cameron
reevalutates this potential sequel.

Heck, the only reason I want a True Lies 2 is for Eliza Dushku.

Honest to God, this may be the worst movie news I've ever heard in my life. The combinartion of Arnold and Jim Cameron is exciting to begin with. But when you add to the fact that Jim Cameron would no doubt be trying to top what he did in Titanic and the original True Lies. . . WOW! It would probably cost $200MM, have more special effect then any movie ever. . . THIS SUCKS!!!

Is that some French pudding eating cowboy movie?

Seriously, I thought it was a rip on the James Bond flicks mostly?

And do we really want a sequel? True Lies just stands by itself as such a damn_good movie I don't know that I'd want a sequel sullying my memory of it.

While I do believe this movie can stand alone it is sad to hear about the possible demise of its sequel. Cameron is just getting soft in my opinion.

I thought 20th Century Fox confirmed its release??? Even according to Yahoo movies, which only posts CONFIRMED movies in their upcomming movies section, posts True Lies as set to be released in 2003.

Man, I'm sick of this 'We can't offend the Arabs/Muslims/Etc' attitude. Back in 1994, when 'True Lies' came out the Arab Rights people were screaming for blood. We're not like that, they said, we're not terrorists. Just one year prior, the 1993 WTC bombing occured. Who's responsible? For those who argue it's unfair to media-portray an ethnic group together, perhaps they'd best stop watching media? EVERYTHING on TV is in a way representative of a certain stereotyping, good or bad. There are mostly white people on TV and in films because the caucasian population has the most power. Anyone see 'Training Day'? Was that a "BIASED" view of the barrios, of L.A. street life? I've been there. Stuck there at night. You're not watching over your shoulder for white people there. You're looking out for the Latino eses and the punks and gangbangers, who, yes, happen to be black. It's REALITY.

Anyway, I do agree that True Lies 2 should be made, and while I thought the Chinese were going to be the bad guys, the latest James Bond flick features Asian baddies. So I think True Lies 2 will have Iraqi-Arabic bad guys, a true representation of the current world state.

Nazis.

Russians.

Arabs.

SOMEONE else WILL be next. Life moves on.

Uh, filming footage for "Titanic" I suppose. Of course, this depends on when the interview was. Maybe they are planning "Titanic 2! Return to the Iceberg"

Nope, True Lies is an almost scene for scene remake of the french film "La Totale". They just added a couple more scenes and more explosions. There's nothing original about True Lies.

As long as Cameron does an action flick next, I don't care if it's True Lies or whatever. True Lies' greatness was due to Cameron, especially his unsurpassed action direction. The story, characters and acting were nothing special. So hearing this news only disappoints me in the sense that it's one less chance of a good modern day gun flick from Cameron.

Sorry to resurrect the thread but didn't want to start a new one.

Anyways, at a book signing today for Tom Arnold's book, Tom was taking questions before the signing began. I just had to ask about True Lies 2. He said the script is ready, Arnold is ready, all the actors are ready. They are just waiting for Jim Cameron.

So next time one of you bumps into him, please gently remind him some of us are still waiting.

The first was great.

And I always hear that James Cameron goes to the Titanic ever so often. Reasons. I have no idea.
