<dl> <dt> Comments
</dt> <dd> The best resource for any further information and/or discussion on Australian e-tailers is http://www.dvdplaza.com.au (Registration is req’d). All or almost all of the e-tailers have representatives who participate in the forum; this site will let you compare prices among the different e-tailers. If you place your name on dvdplaza’s email mailing list or else check the main page of their website, you will be kept up-to-date on upcoming sales.

Germany
<dl> <dt> Comments
</dt> <dd> Out of all the e-tailers that you see listed, amazon.de is (to the best of my knowledge) the only e-tailer that has ever been named as an e-tailer in Germany that is known to ship internationally
</dd> <dd> The consensus is that, unfortunately, it takes an average of (at least) about four to six weeks for an item to reach a destination in the U.S.
</dd> <dd> Furthermore, if the item in which you are interested has a "FSK18"–rating, strict laws forbid most German e-tailers (including amazon.de) from selling it

<dl> <dt> Comments </dt> <dl> <dt>I had emailed a resident of South Africa about retailers there. He had this to say:
</dt> <dd>For people in SA, Kalahari are very good (although not the quickest).
Don’t know of any review sites, but not sure I’d believe the specs of a disc anyway (the covers are rarely correct).
Not one ever says "anamorphic" or "enhanced for widescreen", although the ones I’ve purchased do seem to be (just luck I guess). Most discs are produced locally by nu-metro (cinema company here).

<dl> <dt> Comments
</dt> <dd>A few comments for the international customers :
</dd> <dd>VAT is an acronym for "Value Added Tax". The price that you will see for an item includes this tax. Some e-tailers (like amazon.co.uk) will remove this tax from the the cost of your purchase during the check-out process; the downside is that you will have to pay the cost of shipping.
</dd> <dd>With regard to those e-tailers that offer free shipping (or charge a nominal fee for shipping), again, the price that you will see for an item includes this tax. BUT the tax will NOT be removed during the check-out process. For the e-tailers, this covers their costs to ship the item

Hi!

Could you add the following forum to the list? I will be maintaining this site for my Korean friend (who is the moderator there).

URL : http://www.dvdutopia.com

- What it is : Korean DVD/Movie/TV Drama + Hollywood DVD/Movies released in Korea Community Forum
- Located : Korea
- How long has it been online : 5 years (Reopened today)
- How many members : None. Redesigned the site to focus on the non-Korean Movie/DVD community from the formerly Korean community only.
- Interface : English
- Language : English
- Audience : For people NOT living in Korea but interested in Korean DVD, Movies & TV Drama + Region 3 Hollywood DVD's released in Korea but NOT sold in the US.
- Miscellaneous
. Admin and Mods are very well aware of the Korean DVD/Movie market and price
. Admin and Mods are very fluent in English
. On hands review of Korean and Korean market specific released DVD/Movies
. Exchange forum to sell/buy new/used DVD's.
. Request forum for members to 'request' specific DVD's sold only in Korea

We have reopened it just today so you won't see many posts there, yet. But, it is being maintained very tightly on a daily basis.

Thanks!

You were not sure about international shipping for some retailers and I can pretend to know spanish and portuguese so...

Chile:
http://www.asuoficina.cl/

No mention of international shipping

http://www.bazarvirtual.cl/

No mention of international shipping

http://www.dvdmagico.com/chile/index.htm

International Shipping

Portugal

non-English Interface :

http://www.fnac.pt

international shipping

http://www.maugenio.com/

international shipping

http://www.worten.pt or http://www.worten.pt/worten/main/home.jsp

only mentions shipping for Portugal and it's territories

also, Venezuela:

http://www.patilla.com or http://www.patilla.com/index/p_home.asp

(It IS a retailer in Venezuela, right?) (As of 08/17/2002, I looked around and could not find any dvds)

http://ww2.patilla.com/site/indice/p...p?id_categ=586 but there are no items there, so yes and no

it doesn't mention international shipping

Hi Bill,

Thanks for maintaining this list. It's very helpful.

I just wanted to make a correction that Australian e-tailer Chaos.com does not ship outside Australia. I don't know if they did before.

Hey Pro-B: I've looked at DVD Hoelle and Amazon.de for Wild at Heart. I live one country away, in the Czech Republic. I've never seen that DVD here. Shipping to here from Amazon.de is ridiculous--€13!! I don't understand. HKFlix ships internationally for less than $3. Anyway, I can't find any shipping info on DVD Hoelle's website (my German is rusty but I can manage). Do you know any other reputable websites with reasonable shipping rates?

You could try these sites that are based in Holland as an alternative option:

www.amazon.at
www.dvdsales.be
www.dvdzone2.com
www.fame.nl
www.freerecordshop.com
www.freerecordshop.nl

Is there any reason why you HAVE to pick the German version...? YOu might want to consider some other European versions...The Scandinavian version (Danish/Norwegian) is identical to the German Universal disc....look here:
http://www.axelmusic.dk/productDetails/321590242012

...and it is on sale. Unless I am missing something in your post!

Thanks. Finally bothered to it. Ran a link check on all the links and removed those that no longer work. Wasn't fun but needed to be done.

For Taiwan retailers, you could add this site, which has an English interface:

http://mall.jsdvd.com

I've ordered from them a few times and have been happy with the experiences.

Please add Daa Vee Dee.com to the sticky list "International Listing of E-tailers/Reviews/Forums & Resources". We have been searching and providing English-friendly European and Australian import DVDs to the movie lovers forawhile now, and have excellent reputation (feedback) on both eBay and Amazon. We specialize in rare foreign, arthouse, cult and independent movies, with a little bit of other rare titles as well. We have great selection, and reasonable prices. Our store at www.ArthouseCinema.net has been recently open, and we now have a coupon for DVD Talk members, taking 5% off from all purchases at our store, code "4DVDTALK".
