Open Range (in DTS) the shootout scene
Bad Boy II - the car chase scene
Tears of the Sun - the last shooting scene (bullets flying everywhere)
Underworld - almost every scene in the movie. Deep bass also.
Driven - any race scene

the only thing is that reloaded imo didn't have great "ommph" or power to the actual sound but had lots of bass and lfe. Lets just say, its hard to hear the actual punches during the burley brawl but if neo does the slow motion thing, the lfe is killing.

thats the way I remember it in theaters...

Gladiator
Terminator 2
LOTR: FOTR
LOTR: TT
Die Hard
Jurassic Park
Appollo 13
Fifth Element
Die Another Day
Band of Brothers (especially episode 2)
Fast And the Furious
and finally, my #1 movie for sound: Saving Private Ryan
(All the movies are available in the best sound format, DTS)

And, if I had to pick some DD DVD's
Harry Potter: The Philospher's Stone
Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets
Star Wars: Phantom Menace
Terminator 3
Matrix: Reloaded
And my #1 Dolby Digital movie: Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones
(I have to give credit to Warner Brothers, they don't give DTS DVD, but they sure can make a DVD sound great with Dolby Digital)

That covers most of the demos and I'll add that the DTS version of The Haunting is great as well even if the movie blows.

I am very fond of my Texas Chainsaw Massacre R2. Maybe it is just a perfect fit for my speakers, but the sound always makes it sound like it is all going on right the hell in my living room.

Gladiator also sounds particularly great.

Wanted: Good DVD's with incredible audio tracks...

What DVD's have really stellar audio tracks whether it be DTS or 5.1 Dolby?

One that you might use to show off the audio capabilities of your system and also....a DVD with a movie that is good, but is made better simply by such an overwhelmingly fantastic audio track.

I like big bang for buck and want to see if I am missing some...one example that I thought of in my collection was "Daredevil". I know it got panned, but I thought it was a pretty good movie and the sound just blew me away.

Any others?? Thanks for help.

Terminator 3 is currently the disc I use to demo my home theatre system.

Avalon R3 Korean set is simply the best sounding dvd I have ever heard, in DTS 6.1. Hulk R3 DTS is also fantastic.

Das Boot superbit sounds incredible in DTS!

Quatermass 03-28-04 01:37 PM

This movie may not fit in with the rest of the action/adventure types that others have listed, but I was in a store the other day and they were using "Drumline" to demonstrate a new Bose audio system. It sounded so realistic that people in the store were looking outside into the parking lot for a marching band. I've seen the movie and it was kind of lame and pretty predictable, but the performances were cool.

YES! Thank you. I'm glad to see someone else knows this dvd exists. One of, if not THE BEST demo disc for surround sound.
I think just about everything else I could think of was mentioned too, except I don't think The Haunting (Dts-Es) was mentioned. Some of the VERY best IMHO are...
Super Speedway
Chicken Run
Gladiator
Saving Private Ryan
Jurassic Park
U-571
The Haunting
LOTR: FOTR EE
LOTR: TTT EE
Star Wars: Ep.1
Star Wars: Ep.2
Fifth Element: Superbit
Black Hawk Down: Superbit (R3)

pat00139 03-28-04 10:25 PM

Definitely agree with T3 in R3. The DTS track kicks ass.

If you're not looking for a make-you-deaf experience, A Tale of Two Sisters and PTU have two of the best DTS tracks I've heard, especially A Tale of Two Sisters. These are two movies where you definitely miss out big time if you don't have a surround system.

I also remember the Minority Report track being pretty sweet.
