Kill Bil Vol 1 DTS
Of cours all of the best examples are going to be from films your wife is unlikely to find tremendously appealing. If that were the case, she wouldn't need a demo in the first place. Maybe a concert like Eagles Hell Freezes Over DTS or Sting: Brand New Day Tour? Why don't people just take "so and so" to their local electronics store where there is always a surround sound scenario set up with choice demos scenes of some of the best examples in just a few minutes? |

Brotherhood Of The Wolf 3 disc edition with DTS

"Older" releases still rule for me: U-571, T-2: UE, Air Force One
More wife friendly choices may be: Bug's Life/Toy Story (I/II)/Finding Nemo, Moulin Rouge |
"Blade 2"

My Dinner With Andre. Wallace Shawn's voice through a home theater system....priceless.

The Flaming Lips: Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots DVD-A - Hands down, the most amazing surround mix that you're going to hear (of course, you need to be DVD-A ready).
But, if you need a movie, any of the above will do fine... I'm also partial to Das Boot Superbit - DTS track (pick one of the damaged sub scenes, the dripping water sounds like it's right in your lap) and FOTR EE - DTS Track. For a good sub workout, U-571 is probably your best bet. For a more subtle approach, the DTS track on Se7en Platinum Series. |
Master & Commander is my new choice for my surround demo disc.

I like SPR, and Episode 2 where they are chasing after the assasin in the speeders.

I always use the DTS version of Pearl Harbor and I go straight to the scene of the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Thanks for the tips so far... I may have to pick up U571 to hear what your are all talking about. But more likely Master and Commander in this case.
|
Superman The Movie or Star Wars Episode 1 or Matrix Revolutions...

The Eagles - Hell Freezes Over dts

There is nothing like FOTR and TT in DTS-ES. With a good system this sound will challenge the best theaters (leaving alone front-only systems)
|
FOTR it is... and will likely put in Master and Commander not long after that...
Thanks! |
Originally posted by Cyberock I always use the DTS version of Pearl Harbor and I go straight to the scene of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. This is the DVD that got me going back and doing a lot more A/B comparisons between DD and DTS. Pretty surprising how many DD tracks have noticably lower extension in the LFE department. Even big releases like the LOTR's series, although the difference isn't anywere near what's present on Pearl Harbor. It's only noticable in a few spots. The DTS tracks on those tend to be very slightly crisper so it's a trade off on what you like I guess. |
The opening war in FOTR, when Sauron blows up in DTS 6.1 glory.

Stuff I show off:
