Couldn't someone use a silver or grey (or another color, maybe black or navy blue w/gold or yellow lettering) backdrop and just create a Fox 5 Star template? It might be to difficult, but i've seen people do amazing things with photoshop in these threads
If someone ever comes up with a template, I'd be willing to test it out on foil paper I saw a while back. I think the etching on the covers is probably the biggest obsticle.

Regarding Fox 5-Star covers, why not just crop and resize (squeeze) the spine? Eye-balling my Die Hard and Speed cases, it looks like the facial box is only about an eighth of an inch wider than a single keepcase spine. You should be able to easily squeeze it that much horizontally without it being readibly noticeable.

The main problem with the 5-Star is you can't scan them. Well I take that back you can scan them, they just don't look very good. Seeing as how there's so many requests for these, I'll start on a template this week and see how it goes.

The Credit Font name

It's called Steelfish. It's a true type font. I can't remeber where I found it though.

"Steelfish" is one of the Larabie Fonts available right here. They've got some other interesting ones as well that may come in handy.

I had the exact same problem with my HP scanjet 2200c. I aggrevated over it for a couple months before finally sending it back to HP and getting a brand new one. Now no more aggrevation.

If you're willing to, if you slice the 5 Star Covers with a blade, they fit nicely, and the spine matches up too. It might run slightly over.

darthvong: If you make a template, could you make one with a white background so I could try a test run on foil paper.

Please let me know when the 5th Element covers can
be downloaded (suberbit ver. 2).
The typical jpg covers at dvdcoverart ran about 5+ megs
for a good 300 dpi and the Bond tif files ran about
20+ meg each, so please don't compress the jpg too far.

Thanks for all the great work!

How are all of you printing these up? Are you just printing them on your home printers? Or taking them to Kinko's on disk or something? Seems like if you printed 20 or so of these...you'd run out of ink quick. And what stores carry keep cases?...not online stores. Thanks!

EDIT: Nevermind...I found some threads that go into great detail on all of these questions. Thanks anyway and sorry for wasting your time.

Here's my spin on 'The Fog'!
============

Brad (boku68),

I just put my snapper conversion for 'Outbreak' up! I'll leave that up for a few days than I'll add 'Flash Gordon'. I only have 10MB of web space so I can only put one cover up at a time. I'll drop you a line when "Flash' is up.

JJE-187,

Let me know when you have downloaded 'Outbreak' so I can accomodate 'boku68'. Enjoy the cover.

John

Here's a simple conversion for 'Dogma'. Front and back are from the outer cardboard box with a custom spine and away you go (single Amaray).

Thanks,

darthvong,

I think the font thats pretty close is called Inline Flaco, which is not free. Check fonts.com I believe, or just search on Yahoo it should come up in the first few sites.

I thought I'd put out this ***FLAG*** for anyone looking for 'Amaray' single cases. For some time now , InetDVD, USplastics, etc. hae been shipping the old style 'Amaray' case. The one without the cutout on the openning edge.

I just purchased 2 cases of 30 from a seller on eBay for $12 each (case) with free shipping. These are the new style 'Amaray' (the ones we all love). Evidently they are from a chain rental store. Each case has a cover insert and inner insert for the Britney Spears movie 'Crossroads' but the cases are in perfect condition with nice tight clear plastic overlays. Thats $12 for 30 cases, not bad at all (the best price I've ever found). I just ordered 4 more cases.

Looks like he has about a dozen more (cases of 30) listed .

Is there a free version or one that's close?...I'm not going to buy a font to make a few covers...Thanks for the lead though...
