Hello,
I just purchased a region 0 DVD from Asia, Celine Dion "My Heart Will Go On". This is my first region 0 purchase. From what I understand, region 0 DVDs are supposed to play worldwide, but this has been tried on two different players and will not play.
Does anyone know why this will not play, or maybe if there is a setting on my DVD player that can be changed to allow it to play????
Thanks,
William

Hmmmmm, I didn't realize that DVD players were still segregated between PAL and NTSC, although it makes sense. Since I'm in North America, mine is NTSC, so I suppose the region 0 DVD from Asia would be PAL. Damn, defeated again! Thanks, everyone, for replying!

If it's a PAL problem, the disc will likely "play" it just won't look good, it may look like scrambled premium cable, or something else depending on your player.
If it's a problem with the disc, it may not be recognized at all by the player. Need more info.
Where did you buy it from? What store in what country? Saying Asia is like saying, I bought this DVD from the western hemisphere. There are different region codes and PAL/NTSC countries Asia.

That's not always true. Lots of US players will refuse to play PAL discs at all -- including Pioneer players, which WilliamMeisinger apparently has.
My Pioneer DVL-700 will not play Region 0 PAL titles. It simply displays a "Cannot be Played." message and stops.
