What are some of the major non-region 1 DVD sites out there? The forums at http://www.thedvdforums.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/Ultimate.cgi seem to be pretty good for R2. Are there R3 and R4 equivalents?

Also try http://www.dvdforumz.com This just a new site but i'm sure they would appreciate people with a knowledge of DVD's checking them out. I have spoken to a few of the guys who run this site and they are very keen about all things DVD.

At the top of page one of this forum there are several "sticky" threads. These are maintained generously by other members to assist new and old members alike. You may be interested to know that info about asiandvdguide and its forums is present in <b>AutumnNights</b> essential thread.

I would particularly advise new readers of this forum to read said "sticky" threads and also <A HREF="http://www.dvdtalk.com/legal.html" target="_blank">the forum rules</a> and <A HREF="http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=101832" target="_blank">this thread</a> started in Feedback by the site founder and owner.

To look more closely and respond to the issues you raised....

Your email address is not shown in your profile: in order to obtain it I would have needed to bother an administrator over what - at the time - seemed to be a relatively minor matter. At the same time I would be drawing (unnecessary?) attention in admin circles to your posts.

As suggested above, repeating information already included in comprehensive and well-maintained "sticky" threads is pointless and, I must say, not in the least excused by the arguments you have recently presented: I pointed this out in the earlier post of yours to deter both yourself <i>and others</i> from continuing to think that it <i>was</i> "OK". That is one of the things that I do here as a moderator. I also went ahead and locked several of those older threads and in some cases deleted posts.

Had your "bumping" posts comprised useful, original and/or substantial information then I doubt that there would have been need for any comment on my part.

To answer your question, <FONT COLOR=red><b>no, for the main part, spurious thread-bumping is <i:>not</i> condoned.</b></font> To the best of my knowledge, persistent offenders have in the past suffered administrative action in the form of public or private warnings and the removal of posting privileges.

All this having been said, I do <i>not</i> propose to go back and lock all ancient threads to avoid the possibility of less-than-relevant bumping: it is easier to deal with this on a case by case basis and occasionally publicly to restate forum rules and guidelines.

Finally, so there is no misunderstanding, I will address the following direct question to you, <b>PIN0Y</b>: do you have <i>any</i> connection (except as a satisfied customer) with the commercial site in your sig. Please email me with a simple yes or no.

they accept yahoo addresses. and their as easy to set up as hotmail.
