Stephen Chow's Mermaid
I just saw this in the theater and I've got to say this was Stephen Chow's best film since Kung Fu Hustle. Funny and emotional! Sort of like a cross between The Cove and Splash. Excellent filmmaking, great acting, cool soundtrack, amazing visuals and two gorgeous lead actresses - what more could one ask for?
I saw it in 2D as well - I didnt want to see it in 3D. Definitely a 4.5 out of 5!! Here's my updated Stephen Chow film ratings now: Mermaid: A Journey to the West: C- CJ7: B- Kung Fu Hustle: A Shaolin Soccer: A- God of Cookery: B+ Forbidden City Cop: B+ From Beijing With Love: A+ 60 Million Dollar Man: C+ Love on Delivery: B Chinese Odyssey: B- Flirting Scholar: B Fight Back to School: B Royal Tramp: C+ |
This looks slated to turn up here in the U.S. starting on February 19th...a select group of AMC theaters screen Asia-Pacific offerings...and THE MERMAID is on the list.

Re: Stephen Chow's Mermaid
Finally got a chance to watch this. I give it an A-. Typical Chow flick; not saying that's bad. That's what I expected and got. :)
The BD has been out for quite some time now. https://www.amazon.com/Mermaid-Mei-R...ermaid+blu+ray |
