Korean releases of US catalog titles?

I was planning to buy a UK release of a US film (MGM label) that was out-of-print, but now the UK release is out-of-print, too. I'm getting tired of this and wondering if those South Korean versions I see on EBay are worth considering. There were never any extras, so that's not an issue, and I can ask to be certain it's not a DVD-R. I'm sure there are some Korean bootlegs, but I've seen Korean DVD's (of out-of-print US films) sold directly by Amazon, who I suspect do their homework. My biggest question is about the quality of the print. In general, are these likely to be the same print as the R1/R2? Are there any general rules of thumb? Thanks!

If it's an MGM distributed title that is also released by MGM in Korea, you can suspect it's legitimate. But if it's from some unknown label, then take your chances.

What is it you're looking for?

It's the Bogart film "Dead End":

http://www.amazon.com/Dead-End-Sylvi...words=dead+end
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dead-End-DVD...5203519&sr=1-2

Assuming the information is accurate, there seems to be a difference in subtitles among the Korean pressings listed for sale. (Obviously more subtitles = more legitimate.) I don't believe anybody lists the studio name. Can you tell me (or recommend a good Korean DVD site that could confirm) if an official version exists? And thanks!

Can't find any info of an official Korean disc. I'm pretty sure the Korean disc listed on ebay is just a public domain disc. Can't say if the quality is a bad print or a 'stolen' MGM DVD rip.

Sigh; could have figured so. Thanks for the investigative work. Guess I'm back to spending a few months stalking a relatively inexpensive copy...
