With the bad exchange rate and a lack of coupons I have not bought much R1 lately.

Help me out - where is everyone buying from lately?

Any good deals on titles not released on R4?

Thanks,

Beejay.

Where are you located Beejay? There are heaps of good priced DVD's in Haymarkey and on Pitt St too.

Tell ya what, give me an example of a movie and I'll see what the best price I can find for it is.

Hi Fhrx,

I live in Baulkham Hills.

I have heaps of dvd's from the old brandsforless days, but have slowed down for a few months after buying a new house.

The prices in Chinatown seem pretty high, so I would prefer to import.

The following titles are on my wanted list:

Chicken Run
Coyote Ugly
Bring it On
Hollow Man
Survivor Series 1 (Don't ask)
Jurrassic Park dts.

Thanks for the help buddy.

Mainly from Express.com with their 35% preorders and the 8% off from *cough* *cough*. Also I used the 10% off in stock stuff coupon a while back (combined with the 8%). Also I put in an order at Amazon using the 10% coupon for the new bargain section of their site (yet to see what the point of that section was but anyway...).

beejay - I must say I miss those brandsforless and reel.com days as well. Way slowed down my DVD purchases since.

I've made a couple of new orders through a&b sound (www.absound.ca) a Canadian site which has got pretty good reviews so far. Only thing is my order has a few backordered items, and apparently the wait will be quite long. So I don't know whether to recommend them at this stage.

But I did notice on their specials page that they have Survivor S1 for US $12.78/CDN $18.79 which is the cheapest I've seen, if that's your sort of thing

Fhrx - I checked your thread, and must admit I'm fussy as well, but you don't mention any sites that you're partial to?

I use HEAPS of them. Seeing as I'm signed up to so many different GC's sites etc and have to jump from shop to shop. I haven't actually paid more than $10 for a DVD in the last year.

Some of my favorites are Best Prices, 800.com, Buy.com etc.

I ship to addresses in the states, it only costs me local prices. Then for around $5 I have ten or so shipped down here by my friends Stateside.

Shops like buy.com have nice GC's as well. If anyone wants a full list of shops, please let me know.

Cool, working on it now. Will give you a list tomorrow dude. I also know of a few HK DVD shops out that way that will probably have some cheap stuff in them. Will give you the list soon.

The best I've found Chicken Run for is $15 new (Amazon.com + coupon) and $10 second hand (Half.com + coupon). But that's just for now.

That doesn't include any specials shops may have. You just have to go through them all manually and see what you can find. Like etoys selling Galaxy Quest for $9. Bought that yesterday.

I'm gonna hit the sack as it's nearly midnight. I'll get lower tomorrow!

Hey,

Those prices look pretty good.

I need to put some more work into this - I thought all of the bargains were gone!

Hi Beejay

Please be reminded that Hollow Man (region 1) is RCE disk. Hope that you player can access RCE disk.

Try ordering from A&B Sound. Their price is good for internationals.

FHRX: I logged onto BestPrices.com & saw that their prices were good, but then they say they don't accept international credit cards.. are you paying by wire?? That would add a heck of a cost to the purchase. How are you paying them??

Ben,

When buying, check out:

Then check out the coupon sites before purchasing:
  • http://www.bigbigsavings.com/bycategory.php3?g=1s
  • http://www.couponparadise.com/movies.htm
  • http://www.dealcatcher.com/deals.asp?view_type=1&category=5
  • http://www.dvdpricesearch.com
  • http://www.videotropic.com

That should help somewhat dude.

No worries.

As for DVDplaza, I was gonna put the list there but Aussie shops just don't have the deals or coupons the US shops have.
