You don't have to change region for Blu-rays, or DVDs? Can you name a specific disc you didn't need to change region on?

every single region B locked (Indicator, Second Sight, UK Arrow, etc.), i don't know exactly. it's just every movie, whether region A or not, it plays without me doing anything. it just recognizes and plays. these are just some i pulled from what i ordered on Amazon UK...

Handmaiden
JCVD
That copy of JCVD is all-region, so it will play no matter what region your Blu-ray player is set at. The Handmaiden is supposedly locked to region-B though.

Are you alternating between region-B locked and region-A locked titles? Not just "region A," but a Blu-ray actually locked to region A? A lot of titles are all-region now.

It could be your player is set to region-B, and just by pure luck on the choices of discs you've recently played, there hasn't been call to change the region back to A or even change it to C to play a particular disc.

Edit: He's a task. Looking quickly at your collection, try playing your Criterion Collection Blu-ray of Akira Kurosawa's Dreams. That's locked to region A.

just put in Dreams. recognized and played fine. then put in Handmaiden. recognized and played fine. neither, did i have to do anything. it auto recognized and i change discs all the time. mostly A (no idea whether locked to A or not and really don't care), but other regions as well. and i have no idea what it is currently set to. just posting what i have encountered...

OK, I did some digging, and contrary to the info I first found, Dreams is region-B as well as region-A.
Akira Kurosawa's Dreams Blu-ray - Chishu Ryu

Handmaiden UK is definitely region-B only based on several sources.
The Handmaiden Blu-ray - Min-hee Kim

Could you try your Blu-ray copy of Arrival? From what I can find, that's definitely region-A locked.

I'm sorry if it's not fun for you anymore, but what you're describing is something that, based on all my experience and knowledge, is technologically impossible.

Can you pull up your Amazon order history and see what Marketplace vendor you bought this modded player from? I think many would be interested in a player that they didn't need to manually change Blu-ray regions on.

I gave you model #. I’m sure not hard to find it on Amazon.

Good deal, that's cheaper than what WorldImport sells it for on their own site:
https://www.world-import.com/sony-s6...isc-player.htm

Of course, on their own site, it mentions this for that model's region-free capability:
Region Code (DVD): 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 PAL/NTSC - Automatic Detection and Playback
Region Code (BD): A B C - Manual Selection
So whatever your player is doing, it wasn't designed that way, so I wouldn't recommend anyone buy another one and expect it to work the way you're saying yours is.

Huh? Didn’t know that wasn’t supposed to happen, but whatever it’s doing it, I’m loving it. Still that price on Amazon and in stock, though I doubt they would deem this as essential

Re: Panasonic DMP-BD60 is Capable of Playing Region B and C Disc.

Bumping this thread, hopefully for some advice. I have a BD60 as well, with possibly the original 2.2 firmware from 2009. I am trying to solve an unrelated issue with this player and might like to upgrade the firmware. But I don't want to lose the region free capability. Has anyone with this feature (on any Panasonic player, but particularly the BD60) ever lost it through a firmware upgrade?

And I don't believe you can downgrade Panasonic firmware, can you? Thanks!
