Best Edition of Scanners (1981)

I'm trying to determine which non-Region 1 edition of 1981's Scanners is the best. The Japanese edition? Where would I go to find this out?

dvdbeaver reviews the German BD

no extras, no subtitles (not even German!), but I'd hold my breath for a better release. Bet you anything Criterion will put out a lavish special edition sometime soon.
