I'd like to try out my APEX by taking advantage of Blackstar's current promotion where you can buy 2 Carlton DVDs for £15. Can anyone give me a review on which ones might be winners and which ones to avoid?

Here's the list of what's available:

Big Sleep, The (1977)
Blood Relatives (1977)
Borderline (1980)
Boys From Brazil, The (Widescreen) (1978)
Canterbury Tale, A (1944)
Capricorn One (1976)
Cassandra Crossing, The (Widescreen)
Dead Ringers (1988)
Dealers (1988)
Defence Of The Realm (1985)
Educating Rita (1984)
Evil That Men Do, The (1983)
Farewell My Lovely (1975)
Genevieve (1953)
Gleaming the Cube (1988)
Great Expectations (1974)
Green Ice
Hamlet (1948)
Henry V (1945)
Importance Of Being Earnest, The (1952)

Thanks

To be honest, most of them are pretty crappy, thus the cheap prices. Out of the ones of them I've seen, I couldn't really reccommend any of them in all honesty.

If only for the unlikeliness of it turning up in region one, I’d recommend A Canterbury Tale, one of Powell & Pressburger’s finest movies and a superb evocation of an England that has sadly disappeared. Don’t expect great quality, I’ve never seen a print that rises above "good" but the movie is so fantastic that I doubt you’ll notice. If I had to pick another I’d go for The Importance of Being Earnest which has some delicious Wildisms. Can’t pass judgment on the print quality however.
