The Hole (Latest Joe Dante film) (1/17/2011) BD/DVD

Joe Dante's film, done in 3D, filmed in 2009 independently, finally released in Cannes and other places in 2010, yet no US release as of yet, gets a DVD and BD release from E1 next month. Damn, I had no idea the guy was still making movies. Last I saw him direct anything, he was making that Looney Tunes movie with Brendan Frasier. Any word on how this movie is?

I'd never heard of this movie before reading about it here... now I'm really stoked to get this blu-ray! Will be importing it before the week is over!! :-)

A Steelbook Blu-ray version is already available in Italy; it contains flat 2-D, active shutter Blu-ray 3-D and magenta/green anaglyph 3-D versions. It is Region coded B.

I would say they are correct, other than a less than thrilling ending I found it a very solid pic overall with a grade of B from me. Actually very creepy in parts.

I watched this over the weekend (on Blu). It was alright. The three leads acting performances were probably the worst part of the film but nothing that took me out of it. It definitely had creepy parts that worked in the films favor. And it's always nice to see Dick Miller no matter how small the role is. I'd give it a 3 out of 5.

Thai DVD, barebones, HK BD and UK BD have no commentary either. UK DVD review with an interlaced transfer.... |

I wonder if they'll do a 3D release as well. If it has more substantial extras, I'd love to upgrade from my UK copy.

It's one of the better shot (recent) native 3-D movies. I've never seen it flat, and have no desire to. I'll stick with my imported Blu-ray 3D.
