Just got the UK DVD today, which has the same extras as the BR, Deleted Scenes, Making of documentary, Interviews, Trailer |
Another nice read is the following Blu-ray review from...a familiar face in a new place:

Re: Gomorra (Italy) Blu-ray/DVD
I was just able to order the GOMORRA Blu-Ray through www.cdbox.it. Shipping for the 1 DVD runs about E17, so I tacked on 3 other (standard DVD) movies I wanted (my regular player is an Oppo region-free), and the total shipping for the Blu-Ray + 3 DVDs was 21 Euros. They also had the cheapest price on the Gomorrah BD that I've seen so far, at 26 Euros. Worth checking out!

Organized crime - the real-life kind - is a very, very bad thing...but I think we already knew that. Maybe I should let it stew for a while, but having just watched GOMORRAH my initial reaction would be to grade it short of the general consensus from critics. I suppose it scores well enough to be marked as a good film, yet at the same time it was a rather dry and detached experience for me. I knew full well what type of film to expect (realistic docu-drama...wrapped with a bow of pre-end credits, statistical text), and I didn't have any difficulty following the multiple characters or with the style of storytelling. And I have great respect for the effort it took to make this film. I just never really got pulled in to the actual movie. While it was reasonably interesting enough, at the same time I could have stopped watching it at any given moment too and not felt like I missed out on anything...as if I were simply channel-surfing away from an organized crime documentary on the History Channel, Discovery Channel, etc. I just didn't feel drawn to any of the characters nor was I overly curious to see how things played out. To fine-toothed comb a couple of things, I thought that the start of the stripper scene was a little gratuitous, more akin to something you'd find in more standard gangster-film fare. Also, the boo moments of violence felt overplayed to some degree. GOMORRAH is a brave piece of filmmaking, but for me not as great a movie as it was for most others. TRAFFIC meets CITY OF GOD seems to be an apt buzz line, yet I'd say it falls short of both the aforementioned films.

^^ Interesting review, maybe I'll wait for a possible domestic blu-ray release.

Flixtime, I think I may end up agreeing with your review -- I'm not crazy about mafia movies -- but I'm curious enough to see it, and it actually costs the same to get the blu-ray from Italy as it does for 2 people to go see the movie in NYC whenever it comes out, so I'll take the leap of faith on this one. :)
