Amazon.de...how do I return and get replacement?

so i got the "Full Metal Jacket" SteelBook and popped in disc 1...it is FullScreen with no commentary! this was supposed to be the Deluxe Edition with both those things. the disc is black and looks like the DE, but alas.

I don't know German and cannot for the life of me figure out how to get a new one and get a postage paid label to send back the old one. then what do i do if a new one is the same and these all have the same production problem.

someone, please help!!

i tried to translate, but most was gobblety-gook. if you could give me the gist and what i have to do i would very much appreciate it.
it seems another was sent out, but i would bet that all of these editions were incorrect and that is what i tried to tell them in the first place.
do i have to send the old back and if so will they send me a postage paid label, because there is no way i can expense the shipping from US to Germany.

They sent you a replacement, you can keep the first one and do whatever you want with it, no need to return.
That's all - no info about whether the replacement contains the correct disc etc.

No, you don't have to send it back; this has happened to me before in the other direction (when ordering from Amazon in the US), and rather than me ship something back to them from Europe they suggested I keep it or give it to a school or library ('Schule', 'Bibliothek' in above text) that might want it. I don't know if it's a policy or not, but they obviously sometimes just decide that an international return isn't worth the trouble when they have to pick up the shipping tab.

Sorry I was busy and only just checked. They have sent you a replacement copy already. The second mail is the shipping confirmation and the item is on the way to you. You can check that online.

They don't want you to send the defective dvd back as it would be too expensive for amazon to pay the return shipping.

You can keep the defective one and you replacement is on the way.

Again sorry that it took sooooo long.

no worries, thanks dirk. i just have a feeling this is not an isolated incident and all them were manufactured incorrectly with the wron 1st disc. thus i will prolly have to send all back and just get a refund.

I had a look at a German DVD forum and I couldn't find anything about this. I look alittle more. Maybe I find other people in Germany who had this problem.

Ok, I have more information for you Scott. There was a first pressing that had the wrong Discs. Warner Germany exchanged these Discs for free. I think you should wait to see what you are getting in the mail. Maybe the one you are getting is the corrected one. If not you should write to Warner in Germany, which you can do in English, and see what they have to say. I found this email in a German forum: [email protected]

i e-mailed them, but nothing yet. that was so long ago, do you think they would still do it? and ship to the US? i'm just so annoyed bc i was really looking forward watching this.

Good question Scott. Remember, you have the 6 hours time difference to Germany. I would give it till early next week and if that doesn't work I would email amazon.de and tell them what happened. They should have staff that speaks English. If not I can help you and we write it in German, but I am pretty sure that they will even answer you in English, just the automated mails are all in German.

thanks Dirk...for everything. i hope i can just replace it simply with Warner or get a full refund from Amazon, though i hope i do get the movie. i even asked Amazon through my Altavista translation if they could send me the non-SteelBook in hopes of getting the corrected one, but i am not sure i did it correctly and it got through with all the links and right info i needed.

well, Dirk to conclude our story...i sent 2 e-mails to your address and got no reply. sure enough this week i got an unremarkable bubble package with no return address and no sign of who it was from. when i opened it, out comes a disc very similar to the non-correct version and a letter in German from Warner HV. i could not tell them apart, but when i popped it in...sure enough it was the corrected disc!

Return to Sender?

i know that for US shipments, if you don't open a package and write "return to sender" it will go back to shipper and you will get a refund without having to print return label and all that.

can you do that with international packages...like a DVD from Amazon.de?
