On a happier note, I actually have placed a few orders recently that went very smoothly. In fact, I bought the Mulholland Drive 2 disc special edition (with absolutely horrendous packaging) and one of the discs got hacked in shipping. I e-mailed them, they got back to me within 24 hours, shipped another copy within three days. Then I emailed them with the receipt for shipping, they responded again within less than 24 hours with an e-voucher for the amount. Just thought I'd share...

Not all is running smoothly. I received a delayed notification email for my $13.95 Metropolis although it is still for sale on the website at $19.95. I don't mind a delay so long I get it eventually.

I've been looking at upgrading my Criterion version of Kwaidan and CD-WOW seems to have the best price on the MoC version. But why are there two different versions? And the MoC is NTSC and not the listed PAL correct?

Kwaidan - $27.99
Kwaidan - $19.95

A CD/DVD set and another DVD I ordered on the 11th arrived today. No complaints from me.

It's NTSC. Check out www.dvdbeaver.com for a comparison. The 2 different prices come from the "Warehouse" thing they did a couple of years ago which never made any sense to me but sometimes you would get 2 different listings of the same item, one more expensive than the other. Order the cheaper one without worry. It is NTSC, their site is mistaken.

For those who are still receiving communication from CD Wow, have you received any vouchers recently? Also, I keep holding out for one of their "happy hour" sales where everything is discounted. I haven't seen one in quite some time. Finally, I tried to e-mail Kevin about a month or so ago, and never got a response.

Any thoughts, feedback, etc. would be appreciated!

I recently received several emails about sales like "happy hour" (sometimes even within 4 hours).

As for the voucher, I don't think you can find one in the internet that's working. If some does work, they wouldn't tell me or CD WOW would cut that out.

Even with a voucher, their prices are HORRIBLE now.

It's like everything just shot up in price, when everywhere else, they've dropped. Even in the bargain basement, there's stuff like Casino Anniversary Edition for $31.95.

It looks like CD Wow currently only has one shopping cart for everyone in the world. At the moment the total is around $4,000 and it's impossible to check out. Strange.

I had a "Just shipped" email order for a DEAD CAN DANCE SACD (sigh of relief) and the price was decent for it being an EP-
And if youre a fan, pick them up now-they have stopped the presses-otherwise in a month or two, simple REMASTERED Editions will come out

I was browsing through the UK website and I found that some prices there are cheaper than in the US website once I convert it to our currency (Philippine Peso). For example, a
dvd in the US website is listed for $11.99 (converted to Peso=P575.22) whereas the exact same dvd goes for £4.99 (converted to Peso=P404.19) in the UK site. Does this mean it would be cheaper for me if I shop on the UK website rather than the US one?

For that DVD, yes. I don't know if it's true for all items though.

Yes, it seems cheaper at UK site. However, if you pay for it through your dollar-based credit card, you will be charged a foreign transaction fee by your CC company (about 1-3%).

Thanks for the replies. Dang, i didn't know about this foreign transaction fee. Well I'm neither from the US nor the UK so i guess i would be charged with the fee either way. Thanks again.

Does anyone even shop here anymore? Placed an order about five days ago and other than an 'order confirmation' there is virtually NO information about anything anymore....

I gave up on this site a while back. Once they changed everything it went to crap.

RIP CDWOW!

It's amazing how things can change in just nine pages, since the first of this year.

I also just noticed that koloughlin, Kevin from CDWOW is now listed as banned.

EDIT:

Just noticed that it happened back in June. That shows how much I've been in the loop on this thread the second half of this year.

if i remember correctly he was banned in part because of advertising although cdwow was a partner/sponsor or whatever of this site so and maybe with the combination of things going to hell and this he got banned but it never really made that much sense to me.

I would order from them if they had a good price on anything, but that hasn't even been close to happening, so I rarely even check their site now.

I remember scooping up a dozen BFI titles for $14.99 each a year ago, but haven't bothered with them in a while. I had actually forgotten about CD Wow entirely until this thread was bumped.

I recently bought a DVD from them (due to the low price, of course) and the delivery was fast (now you can use google checkout with them).

However, as others mentioned, the prices at CD WOW are as good as before, so I only check on them when I looked for certain item because of their free shipping.

I just started to sniff around the site, and even though it still says coming soon for Blu-rays, they seem to have some already. I did a search for the last import I bought and received, Mad Detective MoC Blu-ray, and sure enough they have it on the site:

http://www.cdwow.us/MAD-DETECTIVE/product/view/3807490

I'm sure it's old news, but I haven't checked the site in so long I had no clue they had any Blu-rays yet.

With the currently strong dollar, it's best to use one of CD Wow's international sites instead of the U.S. one. I ordered a couple of titles from the UK site not long ago and received both, with prompt shipping.
