Amazon.com increases International Shipping Charges!
Not sure whether anyone else has noticed this, but Amazon appears to have increased their shipping charges substantially.
It now costs $2.50 more to ship one DVD to New Zealand. Other countries the increase is more.

bitches...Amazon UK kicks ass by the way. They are a lot faster than Amazon USA. Even when I was living in NYC and now that I live in Switzerland, Amazon UK takes about 6 days, while Amazon USA takes about 10 days to 2 week...even when I lived in USA.

I noticed the increase last week. I ordered 3 DVDs and the shipping came to $13.96. Ouch!
Previously, it would've been $9.96. A 40% increase is pretty steep.
Note: The above are prices for shipping to Canada.

I noticed that my recent orders with Amazon UK took significantly longer to arrive compared to previous orders (about two weeks as opposed to one week). They are also listed as "Sold by Amazon EU S.a.r.L" so perhaps they were shipped from a different place of the EU.
The fastest international shipping for me is still with CDWow, usually a week or less -- when they have the particular item in stock, that is. (In fact at times it is so fast such that it even beats their shipping notification emails by a few days )

YES - DEFINITELY OUCH for the increased shipping charges !!!
There's limited justification in Amazon charging so much = especially the $2.50 per title. Buying single discs from Amazon US with this charge is almost pointless. OK - shipping prices may have increased in the US - HOWEVER Amazon shouldn't be hitting overseas buyers for all their shipping costs. Offers of 'free shipping' get passed onto to other buyers - mainly us from overseas.

Amazon US is just passing on the higher US postal rates, rates that base the shipping charge not not just on weight but whether the article falls outside certain threshholds, such as the thickness of the package. Apparently, the US Postal Service was looking for a way to raise income to cover underfunded pension obligations, but the USPS did not want the increases to look too obvious, so it limited the increase on first class mail to two cents to 41 cents. Those new Star Wars stamps look very nice, unlike the hefty increases in mailing costs for small parcels.
Expect to see other mail order vendors jack up their delivery charges after the first of the year, to cover their sharply increased mailing costs.

Yeah I've noticed amazon's increase and it's too steep for me. I have not bought anything from them these past month. Lately I'm buying my DVDs at Barnes and Noble using their discount vouchers and I find their shipping charges to be affordable.
