Reprise (Norwegian)

The film "Reprise" by Norwegian debuting director Joachim Trier (not in family with Lars von Trier) has received rave reviews where ever it screens. Look out for it.

The Norwegian DVD has been available since January ´07. Unfortunately, it doesn´t carry any English subtitles.

Go figure

Therein lies the paradox, stalin_roy.

Like you I cannot see the point of your post. It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. One can only speculate why you made it. Perhaps it was some kind of postmodern, self-referential prank?

Of course, this is in marked contrast with Dane's threadstarting post about an "international" DVD in a forum bearing the name International DVD Talk....

Agree 100%!!

Unless someone believes that the only news worthy of recognition on this site are the ones concerning English-speakers the OP's bit is spot on.

Ciao,

I like the information because Dane is recommending a film. The fact it doesn't have English subtitles doesn't mean anything as I'll still keep a note of the film title and it may arrive with English subttiles one day!

Thanks Dane

It's a great film and very well worth picking up. I'm sure an English friendly version will appear soon enough.

Joachim and Lars ARE related, though. He's Lars' nephew though he doesn't make an issue of it at all, preferring to make his own name. He mentioned it to my interviewer at TIFF.

Watched this last night and really enjoyed it. Thanks again Dane Hopefully you will recommend more films from Norway and countries around it. We only hear about Danish films for some reason and then only when they have been picked up by local distributors.

A good friend done the subtitles for me and if someone would like them I will upload the file to Rapidshare. Anyone want the link?

For those interested, this is getting UK release from Diffusion Pictures No mention of the DVD yet but they are selling signed posters on their site. Maybe a better idea to give them away in a competition to get some free advertising? Do'h.

Reservoir,

I have not seen Reprise, but if you're interested in Norwegian cinema, a couple of fairly recent Norwegian films I enjoyed immensely are Monstertorsdag (Monster Thursday) and Hawaii, Oslo. I own the Norwegian DVDs, but I believe they're available through Netflix for rental (they're also available through www.filmmovement.com in R1).

Thanks for the recommendations

I saw the poster (above) for Hawaii, Oslo so added it to my films of interest list. I'll definitely get it now since you mention it. I like the look of Monstertorsdag too.

Does anyone know if the Canadian edition (Mongrel Meida) of Reprise is English friendly?

The english subtitles are burned into the picture (non-removable).
Also, the audio is only DD 2.0 and there are no features except for trailers for other Mongrel releases.
