this is from a review of the japanese version, which i hear is about the same as the korean release (also, the site lists the version that was linked as region 3, not region 0

Yes we have an anamorphic transfer, but sadly the quality just isn't good enough. Certain scenes - and we are not talking about one or two here - exhibit grain, moments of very off putting shimmering and general gloominess. I stuck in my anamorphic PAL R4 (Australia) just to see if I was being too picky, and the difference was plain to see. The R4 disc was crisp, sharp and really pleasing on the eye, while the Japanese version was dark and muddled. Sloppy mastering may have had something to do with this disappointing transfer, but more likely is the fact that two versions of the film have been squeezed onto one disc. Anyone for a two disc release? Yes please.

Now i don't know if the korean version has the theatrical cut, or not.

ok so i got the R0 Korean disc...paid $15 for it over at xploitedcinema...the picture quality itself is good. not as bad as I heard the japanese disc was. now a couple things i noticed which were weird. the dvd is anamorphic, but the image is slightly squished looking. also some panning shots looks kinda weird...almost like the fake anamorphic look that TNT HD programs are in, where it looks fishbowled. kinda hard to explain but it definitely looks weird. another thing, the movie isn't uncut!! during the zoom in of drew barrymore's corpse, it still sped up whereas the uncut vhs has the original slow zooming shot. the rest of the movie seems to be uncut. still disappointing and not worth the $15 I paid.

I know you were looking for NTSC, but I bought the R2 PAL German version which is uncut... I paid $9.99 for it at CDWOW (w/ a coupon).

If you're region free, the Australian one has a very nice annie transfer.

Australian one isn't uncut

I'm very happy with my r3 korean Scream Trilogy box set. Fully uncut.

well the R0 Korean disc isn't fully uncut, and i think this set has the same version. where can i buy the uncut german disc, b/c cdwow doesn't sell it anymore.

Korean box has the same cut as the german disc.

marsdreamjunky 07-14-07 08:42 PM

i heard that the korean set has the same print for part 1 as the R0 disc, but maybe that's false. the R0 disc is almost uncut but during the zoom in of drew barrymore's corpse, it still sped up like the R rated prints.
