Le Clan des Siciliens (UK, June)

There was a request for French crime films from the 60-70s in the Review section so I might as well run this upcoming info here:

Fox is releasing the Gabin/Delon picture on June 18th in the UK.

Ciao,

Pro-B, any info. on what language tracks are going to be available on this release? From online specs, I see French for one...and that would suffice. I'm just asking out of curiosity since previous releases (French and Hong Kong discs) had a combination of French/Italian/German and English/Spanish respectively.

Unfortunately, I can not comment yet as I don't have it with me. I received the new Godard box (so, I can comment on it if anyone needs me to) but I don't have this title in my library yet.

Hey, pro-bassoonist. What movie is your avatar from? I've always been curious.

I thought she looked familiar, but I thought for sure it was from classic cinema.

Received this today. Language tracks - according to the back cover - are English, Czech, and Hungarian.....so the French track listed at AmazonUK is not present. I haven't watched it yet and given I'm not particularly qualified to comment on A/V quality, I'll defer to DVDTalker nitin77 in that area.

I'll be back with detailed comments on the video later, but one question. What is the original language track for this movie?

As flixtime said, only tracks available are english, hungarian and czech. But the english track doesnt appear to be out of sync with lip movements so its not a strict dub. But then are they the frnech actors' voices or dubbed ones?

nitin77, I haven't watched my copy yet and I too would be interested in an educated response to your question regarding the language track for "The Sicilian Clan". Until then, this is the best I'm aware of:

DVDSavant review of Is Paris Burning? - scroll down to FOOTNOTE at the very end

And from the TRIVIA section of "The Sicilian Clan" listing at IMDb is the following:
The film was shot in three languages (French, English and Italian) with the same cast.

From what little I recall of a cable TV viewing, the English-language version seemed quite acceptable to me, but at the time I wasn't paying attention from a perspective as cited in Glenn Erickson's review.

thanks flixtime.

I havent seen it fully yet either but dvdsavant's comments are interesting.

Anyway, comments on the video from flicking through. It's very good basically. Takes up more than a single layer, is fairly sharp, has accurate looking colours for a film of this vintage, some nice film grain, no apparent digital artifcating (although I havent seen the whole movie). Much better than what I was expecting (which was something ike what turned up in the Delon boxset which has some very average transfers).
