Taxidermia (Palfi) - Do I have to wait for Tartan?

I've wanted this DVD since I saw the film in the theatre. Most of my friends couldn't make it, and after telling them how insane and bizzare this is they've been bugging me to find the DVD. Any idea if this will come out in Hungary early, or am I stuck waiting for Tartan to put this out?

I think so!

I couple of weeks ago I was looking at the specs for the French diss (which is set for March 28th release) and since Warner-France (through Arte) are handling this I would think that the UK disc would be a direct port of the French one.

Trailer here:

This being said it is fare to say that a possible US-UK release is very unlikely to use the original Cannes poster.

Haha.... That was a pretty interesting scene (poster). I really like this one. Thanks for the heads up. Once English sub's are confirmed for the French or UK I'll be ordering this one ASAP. Is the UK release date far behind the French release date of the 28th of March?

There won't be English subs for the French disc! The rights for this one in different European countries appear to be well zoned so there should'nt be any overlapping.

I have no info on a possible Hungarian disc at this moment.

Hungarian release is coming in February, two-discer in a digipack with lots of extras. From Budapest Film(KONTROLL) so subbed extras is a possibility.

Specs for the upcoming Hungarian spec.ed. has been announced.
It's going to be a bigass two disc package, DTS for the main feature (with English subs), about a dozen deleted scenes and a longish making of (with English subs) and short film (also subbed). It's impossible to sell many copies of a package like that over here so there is going to be a more affordable one-disc release at the same time with this cover (and no dts track):

I just bought the Tartan UK edition, so I'll probably wait till a US edition appears to buy it again, if then

toddly6666 03-18-08 01:45 AM

why buy it again?

The Tartan UK has no extras, if the R1 does (which is unlikely), I'll sell the UK disc and buy it.

Netflix lists it for release in March. Any idea who is releasing it in the US, and how different will this release be from the original one?

The US theatrical distributor is Regent Releasing/Here! Films, and will be released onto the Home Video market through Palisades Tartan.

The featurette seems to show a scene not included in the US cut.
Also, a comment at IMDB, according to which the supermarket girl from the last third of the film immigrates, seems to show that there is another cut there. However, we have to keep in mind that the IMDB comment may be related to the literary source upon which the film is based, although I would assume that the film would want to reflect such a relevant part of recent Hungarian history.
