Is it worth it to buy Hong Kong Legends DVD's anymore?
I live in the U.S. and if I wanted to order one of these DVD's from the HKL web site it will cost me about $25-30 USD per DVD. They haven't been releasing any really outstanding DVD's recently. Also, now that Bey Logan and Brian White work for Dragon Dynasty and The Weinstein's and are planning to release some really affordable bonus feature filled DVD's, I'm thinking about sticking with them for my Asian cinema fix.
The Killzone DVD was really solid despite it's ridiculous name.
Police Story is a really solid DVD as well with a great audio commentary.
Plus these new Dragon Dynasty titles can easily be purchased for under $20 USD at Best Buy or Circuit City.
What do you all think?

If you really like the movie and the extras that HKL produces, sure. Personally, I never order directly from HKL but through other retailers such as CDWow and Amazon.uk.co.; where they are sold for a lot less. HKL has also been known to be really slow at delivering so that's another negative you have to deal with when ordering from them.
As for Dragon Dynasty I haven't gotten anything they produced yet. However, I am waiting for them to put out a proper release of Fist of Legend.

if for no other reason than they don't have the rights to the HKL extras, so none of the interviews, docs, etc will be on the Dragon Dynasty label. Also DD doesn't have half of the films on the HKL roster. You are buying from the wrong place too, as CD-Wow has many of the HKL titles for as low as $9.95 including shipping. The few left they don't have can be found on Amazon.uk for around $15.
And so far, only SPL was a good release. Their Police Story is perhaps the most disappointing release I've seen in quite a while. It was a step or two down in Image quality from the IVL release of a year ago. Hell, even the old New Line tape looked better, which you would assume they have. It's clear that White is going to get the same crew that did the HKL dvds to do the remastering on these. Which means we see more changing of the image color, pink faces, etc. I think the only reason SPL wasn't affected was because they were using an already mastered source.
