Anyone know what the best audio/video presentation of this melville film is and whether thre is any word on a bette release anytime soon ?

Sorry, I have been very busy the last couple of days (end of the year work) and did not see you post.

As far as English friendly releases go just about the only option you have is the BFI UK disc...it is in the proper 1.66:1 ratio, anamorphic (!!), and with very good contrast. The print is also largely free of debris.

Yeah, UK for this. It seems chronically overpriced sadly.
