UK - US Difference
 

I'm after winning a LCD TV from the US and I was wondering if I can use it. I'm in Ireland and the system we use is PAL and the US is NTSC(I think) and wanted to know if this would matter. Also not sure about power and connections. I heard that US sets don't have a SCART socket so is there a compatible connection I would be able to use instead. probably a stupid Q.

A US TV will be fine for most PAL users as long as your DVD player outputs in NTSC with NTSC and PAL material. You can use component or s-video. I don't know what you mean by 'winning' but it's very costly to ship TVs and since you'll probably not be able to watch TV on it and all the PAL hassles is it worth 'winning'?

What about the power voltage and frequency ?
I guess it's 220-230V 50Hz in Ireland not the american 110-120V 60 Hz.
You could use a transformer to decrease the voltage to 110 Volts, but you can't change the frequency.
