Haven't seen it myself but everyone I know who caught it at TIFF said it pretty much sucked ... don't think I've seen a single truly positive review ...

After reading tons of reviews of it online, including people who saw it at TIFF, the reviews range from fair to great...But now that you said it sucked, I'm afraid that i'm gonna think it's gonna suck then! It's too late, I ordered the DVD. For ten bucks, it's worth a look...

I've got a weak spot for this kind of stuff, so I'm going to pick it up. Might even tack on "Arsene Lupin" (not sure if it is anamorphic or not). Thanks for posting toddly6666.

I'm one of those who saw it at Toronto, and while I wouldn't quite say it sucked, it's far from a genuinely good movie...

Thanks but no thanks. I'll be waiting for Zemeckis' take on this one next year.

I just got the movie from Ethaicd.com....The movie is not bad actually. The cinematography and acting is excellent. Sarah Polly speaking in a normal voice didn't bother me at all, especially since she is like an outcast of the town, only emphasizing the difference of her from the villagers.I actually wanted more. I feel like the movie was one of the adventures of Odysseus and I would have liked to seen more adventures of Beowolf. Is there only one poem or story about him and Grendel? Gerald Butler was excellent as Beowolf and Ingvar Eggert Siguršsson was excellent as Grendel.

The movie is ironically similar to Hal Hartley's MONSTER (aka NO SUCH THING), which also starred Sarah Polley and Ingvar Eggert Sigurasson.

The Thai DVD is of excellent anamorphic video and English 5.1 audio quality. I wish there were English subtitles, to help me understand "thee ol' english" spoken throughout the film. There were no extras at all. For 10 dollars, it's worth it to see this excellently filmed movie, but it's overall a fair to good flick.

Can't be any worse than the one starring Christopher Lambert!
