Yet another Night Watch thread.

I've seen both of these on different sites. Are there any differences between these two DVD versions aside from the cover and probably rest of the packaging? Are they both legit releases? Or is it just a case of "actual-product-may-appear-different-than-picture" and there is only one cover? If there are indeed two, which cover would be your preference?

Also, does anyone have the 3 disc set? Is it all worth its frankly ridiculous price for a non Russian speaker? Is the entire third disc subtitled? Especially curious about the deleted scenes.

Thanks for any help. My apologies on the picture size.

I'm on a dial-up connection right now, so I don't have time to paste all the links as I don't want to open each link within my search. For now, here's the 3 disc information. I don't think it'll be hard to find this information. It's been discussed many times over the last two years on almost every international dvd site on the web.

Neither really helped me with my first query. I don't recall having ever seen anything discussing the different covers of the single disc version. Granted I could be entirely off base on that. Nevertheless.

The second link there is helpful however. I remember seeing it some time ago but haven't seen it pop up in my search in awhile. Sorry bout that. Thanks though.

I felt it would be easier to just state my questions rather than search every international DVD site on the web. Though I'm sure it has all been discussed ad nauseum hence the title of my post.

This is being released in R1 in a week or two. Does anyone know if the R1 release has the ИСПУГАННЫЙ subtitles?

Ph8te 06-02-06 06:04 PM

since I dont read Russian(Guess) I am assuming you mean the "special" subs that were used in the film and I beleive the answer is yes it will.....I for one orderedthe R2 release 2 disc set........I would rather have that then the flipper that they are releasing for R2.........

"Edit" The 3 disc version seems to be legit BUT I havent seen anyone one here who has actually bought it and reported on its worth......

Regarding the R1 release:

The film will have two versions present on the disc:

1. The version released into American and UK cinemas. Despite being uncut, the opening and closing narration is dubbed into English and the subtitles are "creatively" placed within the film. Really cool experience and it should be made for more foreign films despite the film being lackluster and the packed advance screening crowd seeming to agree.

2. The version released into Russian cinemas. Uncut, player-generated subtitles (in English or Spanish).

However, after The Boondocks Saints debacle, I don't know if the DVD will be a DVD-10, a DVD-14, or a DVD-18. Despite many reviewer's claims that The Boondock Saints was a DVD-18, the disc itself was in fact a DVD-10. :(

So to get the original russian version I may have to order the R5 release of it? Or get the R1 flipper disc.

I agree with Ph8te. I am probably going to end up ordering the 2 Disc UK version, simply because it is spread across 2 discs. But the UK version is the international cut you mentioned above right?

Does anyone here who has seen the movie prefer one cut of the movie over the other?
