L'ivresse du Pouvoir (Isabelle Huppert)
This came on Monday and usually I do not post upcoming info without a specific date...expect Claude Chabrol's latest L'ivresse du Pouvoir...to be released "this September". That is all the email says. Will post final specs soon (the film will be presented in two versions "single" and "special edition").

Good news for fans of Chabrol and Huppert, Koch Lorber have announced that they have purchased the rights to the first Chabrol-Huppert collaboration, "Violette Noziere." The DVD will be released in May to coincide with the DVD release of "Comedy of Power."

hmm, apart from La Ceremonie I havent liked Chabrol's stuff. Le Boucher was above average to me and L'Enfer was a big disappointment.
How does this compare to his other work ?

I actually passed on seeing this one in the movie theater last october because my French language teacher (who is French by the way) said it was boring! I figured if a native french person thought it was dull then it must be twice as dull for a non-french person.

PageFrance: I'm not sure about the logic to this! There are many cases when a film is liked far more by those outside of its country of origin. You're probably best to make up your own mind on this.
Nitin77: If you're not much of a Chabrol fan best steer clear. I really liked "L'ivresse du Pouvoir" when I saw it on release, and picked up the DVD just before Christmas, but I don't think it'll do much to change anyone's stance on Chabrol. It's quite low-key, much like recent efforts "The Bridesmaid" and "The Flower of Evil", so if you liked those you'll get on fine with this. If not, avoid.
Dazza.
