LAUTLOS (Germany)

http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P...1.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
Starring Joachim Krol from RUN LOLA RUN Lautlos was released awhile ago in Germany in a deluxe double set with all sorts of extra features (inlcuding the mandatory DTS track) and while it was mostly discussed on German boards with the upcoming R1 release it might be a good idea to compare the two (German speakers and those fluent in German should probably opt for the recently reduced in price DE set).
*Polish speakers in the Chicago-land area could also opt for the very cheap Polish release.

*R1 release set for 08/11

dang!
I take it the German issue is not English-subbed(?).

pro-bassoonist 05-17-06 12:30 PM

No it is not but you have the R1 coming out.

Hadn't been aware of the imminent R1 release until just now. I've expressed my interest before in this title so count me among those who will be picking this up the first week of release.

This is good news ... I caught this at the Philadelphia film festival a couple years back and enjoyed it a lot ... now someone just needs to get the other good German films from that program (Quiet as a Mouse, Offbeat) out on subbed DVD ... I want both of those bad ...

eXcentris 05-19-06 07:00 PM

Who is releasing this in R1?

Wha!?! The original listings all said no subs! Off I go, then ...

jpreeb 05-26-06 06:59 PM

I also caught quiet as a mouse at last year's philadelphia film fest. I've been searching for the DVD release, pro-bassoonist you mentioned an English friendly DVD. Do you know where it can be ordered?

pro-bassoonist 05-27-06 12:23 AM

My comment was meant for Offbeat!

Pro-B, nice work as usual on your review of the R1 release. Very, very disappointing news on the cropped picture (among other things). Too bad for me that I'd pre-ordered it and my copy arrived yesterday. Oh well...win some, lose some.

Tek 07-18-06 11:16 AM

Likewise, I had ordered the R1, fron DDDvd.
It showed as Temp. Out of Stock.. then the next day in-stock, but has yet to ship.

I noticed when shopping it, I didn't see any listings but 1.77, 1.78 or 16x9.. tho admittedly I don't yet know all the good E-tailers :D

Where is the un-cropped English-Subbed version?
Or is there no English-Friendly release in OAR?

pro-bassoonist 07-18-06 01:20 PM

Flix and Tek:

Yes, I am a bit upset as well as I actually thought that the film was not bad at all. I am not quite so sure why Koch "adjusted" the aspect ratio but there you have it. Also, I am not aware of another English-friendly disc. I've read a few German reviews and seems like the German disc is top notch (too bad it is not English-friendly).

Thanks Pro-B...
Well, if you're not aware of it, it likely doesn't exist :D so I don't feel so bad.

I'll just wait and see if the plot & characters move me & be satisfied to watch the copy I can fathom. :)

DirkUSA 07-18-06 01:41 PM

Thanks for all the info Pro-B. I was going to buy the R1 but I will order the German 2 Disc Edition instead. I speak German but I usually buy an English friendly version for my wife to watch with me.

Regards,
Dirk

fans!

I can assure you that the Deutch is not English-friendly. It is not even in the correct aspect ratio.

Looks like the ripped subs you found on the net come from a polish edition.

Tutut 11-30-06 08:03 PM

So the ripper wrote BS in his nfo file, PL means polish to me, you could ask him where the
disc come from but he didn't leave a mail address. ;)
