Cache (April 19)

A quick note that Haneke's Cache will be released as a double DVD set on April 19 in France. The R1 date should be up soon as well.

R2 is may 06, from artificial eye. probably going to be lots of choices out at a similar time.

Looking forward to seeing this again, but will wait until the details on the R1 are out before deciding which edition to get.

Sony is!

Right as of this moment I would say the chances are very good. Sony did a great job with the Flemish hit The Memory of a Killer...and I just had the opportunity to see Where the Truth Lies and these two discs are top notch. Some good extras, impecable video presentation, good overall design. I would still wait and see what the extras will be.

I think Sony's "Saraband" release is also excellent (bare-bones, but a very nice A/V transfer). I can hardly wait, but I just might have to. The AE Haneke discs tend to have a nice array of extras, so maybe I could justify getting both...

Artificial Eye cover designs are almost always a bit plain...

theyre a bit like Tartans covers which are often like their old VHS releases from the early - mid 90s. small photo, generic main part of every cover. i used to quite like them, now they seem a little too restrained for my tastes.

I liked the way AE did a double-sided cover for "The Piano Teacher", one side in the traditional AE manner, the other being a more typical (but good) one-sheet type design.

I agree. It would be great if AE actually develop such a policy: have a double-sided cover with the collection logo on one side and a plain (no quotes) cover on the other side.
