'The Nightmare Before Christmas' UK (2005 reissue) Special Edition - anamorphic?

is this new UK special edition anamorphic?

The Nightmare Before Christmas

it's only Dolby Digital right? or is there a DTS track as the Region 1 edition has.

Sorry i can't offer a conclusive answer but i suspect that this is identical to the R2 Scandenavian release which presents the film in an anamorphic transfer and in the CORRECT ratio of 1:66:1 as opposed 1:85:1 as per R1.

I also suspect that like all the other R2 releases that this will not contain a DTS track.

Hope i'm wrong for your sake

Where can I pick this baby up?
Almost caved and bought the Region 1.

Didn't know they had an anamorphic release?

Any chance they'll release an Anamorphic in Region 1 same time as Corpse's Bride?

Looks like the colors in the UK are a little oversaturated?

Although not Anamorphic, is the Region quality more realistic?
(As in, as realistic as an animation could be )

Is this R1 release better than the old foreign R2 released at the same time?

Has anyone bought this release? Is it like the R2 Scandinavian release (16:9 w/ 1:66:1 ratio)?

well, I actually gave in and bought this (haven't received this yet). Question - how would a 1:66 film look on a 16:9 (1:85) TV? If it's the correct aspect ratio, I'll guess I'll find out.

If the disc is anamorphically enhanced, the image should be centered into the middle of the 16:9 video frame with tiny black bars on the sides. The bars are so small that television overscan may cut them off.

If the disc is non-anamorphic, it will not fit properly onto a 16:9 screen. Either you'll watch it in 4:3 mode and get bars on all 4 sides of the picture, or watch it in "Zoom" mode and crop off some image from the top and bottom. If you set your TV for "Widescreen" it will stretch the picture sideways.

I dont know what R1 Disney were thinking when the redid this in a SE, yet didnt add 16:9 enhancement... one review of the Scandanavian disc said the picture was even a bit better than the already good UK edition.

I was hoping they'd re-release it when Corpse Bride comes out on DVD in January, but there's been no word yet.
