Malefique - Get it now before the remake comes
 

So I've decided to post a little FYI about this French horror film while it's being remade. It seems that once North America remakes something, this forum finds numerous threads about "Which is the best version" or "which is legit" etc.. etc.. as people try to obtain the original disc before Hollywood unleashes their remake on the world.

Malefique IMHO is one of the better French horrors in recent years. I personally found it to be better than High Tension for example, but I'm sure others will disagree. It somewhat (loosey) feels like "Cube" the great Canadian sci-fi film. It deals with 4 inmates in a cell that find a diary about blackmagic, and the fun begins...

It seems like it's going to be coming out some time in 2007 out here in America, and done by the same group, just with English actors! For those of you who like to get a little bit of a head start, here is a Region 4 version with English sub's. I'm not sure how many other versions there are. If someone is aware of any, let us know!

I got my copy about 3 months ago at DeVotedD DVD. The total was around US$22 (shipped). That was the best price I could find at the time. It took 2-3 weeks for them to ship it, then another 1-2 weeks to arrive. So you might be able to find a place that's faster.
