My Flying Daggers box finally arrived this morning. As I posted in the movieSville thread, it was shipped Media Mail despite my paying for air mail. About the set itself...
The wooden box is really beautiful. Unfortunately, mine has a couple of nicks on one side (the side with the "spine" title info printed on it). Don't know whether that was caused in shipping or what. It's disappointing, but it does lend the box an "antique" look so I've decided not to get too upset about it. There is a sticker on the box that is not possible to fully remove by hand (it's one of those stickers that intentionally shreds into a bunch of fragments if you try to peel it off. I took a risk and used a tiny dab of GooGone, which did the trick fine without discoloring the wood. Be conservative with the amount used, though. I squirted just a couple of drops onto a paper towel and rubbed the sticker off. The 4 discs are held in flimsy plastic sleeves inside the "book" packaging. I don't think you're meant to save the sleeves, because the discs slide into slots in some of the pages and the artwork matches the pages. It's awkward to get discs in and out, and could be potentially harmful. Unless you're very careful, it is definitely possible to break or scratch a disc trying to get it out. The book is very nice, though. The dagger and sheath are of course cool. The blade is unsharpened but could be sharpened if you wanted to. It's a little small. Designed for Chinese hands, I guess. Sadly, the dagger does not dodge and weave through the air when you throw it, so don't even try. ;) |

My favorite is definitely the Godzilla "Final Box": http://www.dvdanswers.com/images/scr...illafinal2.jpg I'd also like to state that pictures do it NO justice at all.I personally thought the Godzilla head looked kinda shitty when I saw the picture, but when it got to me I was totally blown away. It is huge (thats THIRTY dvds in that picture to give you a small sense of scale) and extremely detailed. They really caught the absolute worst angle on that head for the promotional pictures because it just looks plain goofy, IMO. It's far more awesome in person. |

I received my HOFD LE from Moviesville.com today, and I'm very pleased with it! As correctly specified on their site, Discs 1 and 2 are NTSC, while disc 3 is PAL format.
I'm very impressed with the construction of the wooden box. It's very nicely put together. |

My only suggestion would be to send them a little less frequently, or only send them when there are significant changes to the products being advertised. It seems like I've gotten several emails in a short period of time all advertising the exact same DVDs. |
Plus they are both dvd9, which I figure means that both movies would be bootlegs? I dont know much about it, but according to the other thread, it would seem that they are.

Did you order it from axelmusic? as I remeber your post about them and the good experience you had. btw, do you know if the version of Arven they sell has english subs as it doesn't seem to be listed on the dvd case, same question with Kopps. Any other recomendations? You mention Brothers in your review as being better than the R1. could you point me in the direction of this? Thanks again

Not only I received it from Axelmusic.dk but it came to Chicago in 4 days...how abot that!! This is the second time they delivered so fast...I ordered on Wednesday night/I guess Thursday afternoon in Denmark...correct, and it came with Monday's mail (i am in Chicago by the way).
As to Arven i think that AxelMusic carry the non-English-friendly version. The best thing though would be that you email Rasmus at [email protected] and when you set up an account inquire about the title...he will let you know for sure. From what they have posted though it is not the version you want. With Kops it is a bit more tricky...the Swedish disc has the subs for sure...the Danish disc I think AxelMusic has is not the subbed one (again email Rasmus...he will assist you for sure). Brothers I would definitely go for the Danish disc...in fact that is why I wanted to review the R1 disc...while picture quality is nearly identical...extras/presentation....goes to the Danish disc, I mean there is nothing on the R1 disc. Other films: I loved this one (and a very good DVD): http://www.laserdisken.dk/html/visva...77522002741000 Susane Bier's Open Hearts...which is a 100% replica of the Danish disc (even some Danish menus) but with an English cover that you could buy from Amazon.UK. I admit to being a little confused on this issue, but I have seen the single disc Seven Swords and Hero that are in the set and they had the heavily displayed "dvd9" on them so that is why I thought that there was a possibility that they might be boots. Not saying they are, but thats why I posted it, because I wasnt sure.
