Ulimate edition of Versus R2 Japan question

I've heard that this is only in japanese and there are no subtitles. Is there a new version with subs?

I have the Geneon 2 Disc Ultimate Version and its subtitled. Good transfer and good subtitles. I have 2 copies of it, a 1 Disc Special Edition from Geneon and the 2 Disc Ultimate Version...

I think you're referring to the region 1 releases from Media Blasters. Ultimate Versus hasn't been released in the U.S. yet (although Media Blasters has the rights).

Ultimate Versus (not Versus: Ultimate Edition) has added footage that wasn't in the original version. The new footage sticks out a bit because the actors look a little different; some of it is cool, though.

This is the one I was thinking of buying. That one should have subtitles correct?

I'm afraid to spend that much and find out that I need to take some japanese classes before I can watch it.

no subs on that disc, as stated. it would be listed as having them if it did, and its pretty well know it doesnt. theres a r1 disc of that version due before the years out.

What's the difference between Ultimate Versus and Versus: Director's Cut?

Which one doesn't suck?

For Ultimate Versus, Kitamura got the cast back together a couple of years later to punch up the fight scenes. A bit of CGI was added. They're still basically the same movie, though - the fight scenes in UV just go on a bit longer.

The opening is different between the two movies, the fight scenes are longer (as has been mentioned) and the music is different (not much but if you know the movie through-and-through, you'll notice it). The newer version is 10 minutes longer, almost to the second.

There are no subs, but it doesn't make much of a difference. The entire extra running time is pretty much dedicated to fighting. The climactic fight extentions is really sweet. If you like the director's cut, you gotta get Ultimate Versus.

Maybe I'll have to start taking some Japanese classes...

Longer? Geezus, they were pretty endless already.

So is there finally a US release of Ultimate Versus? I've never seen the film and was set to buy the director's cut until I read about this newer edition.

BTW, to those that have seen them, which is better? Ultimate Versus or the director's cut of Versus? Also, does the special edition DVD (the 2-disc set) feature the director's cut or the theatrical cut?
