Hello,

I just scored a multi-region dvd player, and now I'm looking for a site with good deals on multi region dvds. Any suggestions?

We have an entire International Forum devoted primarily to non-Region 1 DVDs - check it out!

Here's a few to begin with.

So far, I've had very good experiences with the following:

http://www.dddhouse.com/dddhouse/en/index.jsp
http://www.layoyo.com/cgi-bin/ncomme...AGE=1&curr=USD
http://www.pokerindustries.com/
http://www.hkflix.com/home.asp
http://www.thedvdetective.com/Mercha...T&Store_Code=T

These I've heard are good as well. Some great sets on at dvdheaven.com ...

Best site for purchasing multi-region dvds?

Hello,

I just scored my first region free dvd player and I was wondering which are the best sites for purchasing multi region dvds. I'm looking for classic shaw brother films. I'm also trying to find a good deal on the region2 For a Few Dollars More dvd. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
js

Yea, I use dvdbeaver a lot for helping me pick out which is the best version of a particular dvd to get.
Don't mean to put you down here, but I will then purchase it through the link that dvdbeaver has. It may not be the cheapest edition, but I do think the beaver should get some payback for the service that is being provided on that site. And I would encourage others to do the same.

truth be told, i buy mostly region 2 titles and since amazon.co.uk has competetive prices and doesnt charge the vat, i use dvdbeaver's click-thru regularly. gary told me and the rest of the site's members recently that the beaver is not doing well financially and that he may have to let the site die.

Glad to hear that. Sometimes the links he offers leads to sites that no longer carry the title. So I can't honestly say that I've purchased every movie I saw him do a comparison on through one of his links. Interestingly, one good side effect of going through his links is that I've found some really good e-tailers like MachiavelDVD.

I'll be really bummed out if that happens. DVDTalk and DVDBeaver are my two favorite sites for getting reliable info on dvd's.

shaw brothers dvds... best advice is buy directly from country of issue; buying from stores that stock stuff from other countries means paying a premium for them to have the choice in one place.

shaw bros are issued first in HK and theyre the cheapest too (some other countries are now issuing them) so for HK use dddhouse.com or layoyo.com.

for korea : koreandvds.com / dvdfromkorea.com
for japan : cdjapan.co.jp / yesasia.com
for uk : amazon.co.uk will recognise your .com account.
for hk : dddhouse.com / layoyo.com
...or cd-wow.com (which also stock uk r2 / aus r4 / some r1 etc...)
for france : amazon.fr will recognise a .co.uk / .com account ...
for germany : german amazon i think
for italy : not sure...
for australia : ezydvd.com.au

...remember, these sites list prices in other currencies. $8HK is $1 USD.

That'd really be a shame. I use it quite a bit. Time to go make a donation!

Just wanted to second that notion. My recent purchase (House of Flying Daggers R3 2-disk) from MachiavelDVD.com was smooth, quick, and very satisfactory!

Also another notification for those that use DVDBeaver.com to donate. Now is the time!
