What does "modified NTSC only for playback" mean?
I have a Blaupunkt IS63 TV and want to buy a multi-region DVD player so that I can play R1 & R2 CD's. In the TV manual it says "modified NTSC only for playback from tape" - so please can someone let me know a) what this means and b) is it going to screw the DVD player or something? In case you hadn't guessed, I know naff-all about this kind of stuff! Many thanks

Does it mention "plain" NTSC as well?
"Modified NTSC" probably means PAL60 - many (lower cost) VCRs from PAL regions will play back NTSC tapes, but will produce PAL60 output (i.e. PAL colour information and NTSC framerate) - TVs need to be able to sync to the higher framerate. |
