I've been to a few different Japanese model/rq sites and often I see these listings for DVDs featuring the girls in question. I'm just wondering what these DVDs normally consist of -- my Japanese was never that good and right now I'm just about out of it completely, but they look interesting.

Are they normally just the girls posing in different outfits and talking about stuff or is it other stuff. The ones I've seen don't seem to be pr0n at all (not what I'm looking for), I'm interested in maybe checking out one or two because some of them are pretty hot.

There is a whole genre of Japanese "race queen" and swimsuit/bikini "gravure" idol DVDs. You're basically right, they usually consist of sexy girls posing in various outfits (usually with insipid music in the background), and interviews (I've never seen one with Engish subs). The usual ones you see, with real idols or race queens, very rarely feature nudity, (the closest you would get is "giri giri" or near nudity in a few titles), but these are girls that rarely would end up doing AV or even softcore work (there has been a few exceptions). They usually run about 30 to 50 minutes in length. This is a genre of DVD that is huge in Japan, but doesn't really exist in the US; it's sexy, but not softcore porn or Playboy-ish. I guess the closest thing we would have are the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit DVDs.

There are some hardcore AV titles that do feature porn actresses pretending to be race queens, as it is a popular fetish in Japan (not as popular as school girl porn though ). The cover you posted looks more like one of the legitimate PG titles though.
