Rivette (3DVD) boxset- February 5/2005
 

Arte is releasing a 3 dvdset in France of the following Rivette's works:

LA BELLE NOISEUSE
SECRET DÉFENSE
HAUT BAS FRAGILE

Now, La Belle Noiseue already has received a rather fine treatment in the UK (R1 is a PAL to NTSC port) Secret Defense is sadly available on a non 16/9 dated Image disc. Haut Bas Fragile is yet to be released.

Given the fiasco with Rivette's HISTOIRE DE MARIE ET JULIEN which was announced by Arte as having English subs I would say that it is a sure bet that these DVDs will not offer English subs.

Thanks for the info, Pro-B - I didn't know this was on the way. As I don't own any of these films, I might think about getting this. Although I imagine it won't be cheap...

Though weren't all three of these films already released (also unsubtitled) in the previous Rivette boxset?

Yes they were released in the 8dvd set (but I secretly hope that subs might come out of nowhere this time around), but now will also be sold individually as well.
