Mathew Barney's THE CREMASTER 1-4 DVDs
 

What is the story with the Mathew Barney films THE CREMASTER 1, 2, 3, and 4 released on DVD? I've heard vaguely that he did sell maybe something like 10 DVD (or VHS?) copies of each movie for thousands of dollars each? I know that THE ORDER, the third part of THE CREMASTER 3, is being sold for 20 bucks on DVD, but does anyone know the story about any of his CREMASTER films being released on DVD?

The remaining Cremaster series was suppose to come out this fall, but there is no mention of it on the Palm Pictures web site. I was holding off on buying The Order; Cremaster 3, because I was hoping to get the whole set. Hope it comes out soon!!!!

Yeah, the boxset of Cremaster 1-5 was announced for September of last year (I'm the one who submitted it to dvdaficionado.com).

IIRC, The Cremaster Cycle was doing a museum tour, and at the end the DVD set was supposed to come out. But the museum tour was so successful they booked a movie theater tour. After that I never heard anything else.

Hopefully they didn't look at lackluster sales of The Order and decide against releasing the whole thing. I think a lot of people are still waiting for that boxset.
